Vancouver area patient in his early 30’s. Without the proper initial research, he fell victim like many others who might have felt that there may not be a big difference from one clinic to another. Likely influenced more by cost than quality, he chose a clinic in Istanbul for his first hair transplant. As can be the case with many locations, there can be a number of choices, not all created equal. As this site has stated for many years: “Be Careful!” It did not turn out as he had expected and he wanted to correct the previous work and achieve his original goal of a nice hairline with good density.

Upon evaluation of the work done in Istanbul, Dr. Hasson noted the hairline and tissue exhibited ridging, cobblestoning, misdirected hair, multi-hair grafts, low density, etc. All of these conditions are unnatural and can draw the wrong type of attention.  Today’s modern hair restoration should never present any of these conditions. Excision of some grafts inappropriately placed that blunted the temporal angles would also be required to achieve the most natural result.

Shortly after his initial consultation, he came back to the clinic to have the offending 95 misdirected grafts in the temporal angles removed ( see photos with marker highlighting areas to remove). When the temporal angles have been improperly blunted especially with hairs pointing in the wrong direction, removal is often necessary if the most natural looking hairline is to be created. In some cases, we can work around poorly executed previous work but to what degree and with what sacrifices if any is determined case by case. Dr. Hasson and team then later rebuilt a new hairline blending into the frontal zone with 2,000 grafts via FUE. 343 grafts were single hair, 1329 were double hair grafts and 328 were 3-4 hair grafts.  These photos were taken 1-year post-op.

Patient in his mid-40’s from Florida. Previous procedure at another clinic back in 2000 of around 700 grafts. Dr. Wong and team rebuild a new hairline and frontal zone working back into the necessary areas of need including the crown.  Of the 4490 grafts used, 1506 were single hair grafts, 2347 were doubles and 637 were 3-4 hair grafts. With his hair dyed,  these photos were taken 1-year post-op at the time of his second procedure. In the second session, not reflected in these photos, Dr. Wong rebuilt the temples and points and increased density throughout. An additional 3532 grafts were employed and we hope to have updated photos showing the final result sometime later this year.

If you consider his previous hairline to be where the stronger hair starts and not the weak hairline that remained, I would say as much as 3 centimeters lower in some areas give or take. The last photo (hairline left side) before the immediate post-op shot best illustrates the old hairline. No temple point work, they were good.

Vancouver area patient in his late 40’s had finer hair with diffused thinning heading for a stage 6. Hoping for as many grafts as possible and something north of 4,000, his above average density enabled Dr. Hasson and team to harvest 6514 grafts via FUT to rebuild a new hairline and frontal zone, restore the mid-scalp and work back into the crown. 1969 were single hair grafts, 4162 were doubles and 383 were 3-4 hair grafts. These photos were taken 3 years post-op.

Vancouver area patient in his mid 30's. Dr. Hasson and team transplanted 3,100 grafts via FUE to rebuild a new hairline and frontal zone. 301 were single hair grafts, 2511 were double and 189 were 3-4 hair grafts. A nice result at 7 months with more added volume and density to come.

Patient in his late 20’s from Saskatchewan. Dr. Wong and team transplanted  2516 grafts via FUE to rebuild a new hairline, add density to the frontal zone and parts of mid scalp. 262 were single hair grafts, 1946 were doubles and 308 were 3 hair grafts. Considering only 6 months post-op, the transformation is still impressive with increased thickening to come.

A correction, I got my patients mixed up! :-) Sorry for the mistake. This patient did not take any meds before his procedure and has sporadically used Proscar over the last few months. He plans to be more compliant moving forward.

He used generic Finasteride about 2 1/2 years before the procedure. Added 5% minoxidil a year later and felt it was adding some extra benefit so he continues to use both.

Vancouver-area patient in his late 20’s. Dr. Hasson and team transplanted 5886 grafts front to back via FUT. 2171 were single hair grafts, 3584 were doubles, and 131 were 3-4’s. With some hair styling product in his hair, these photos were taken approximately 11 months post-op.

*At the time of his procedure we were experiencing with a white background, we have since gone back to blue. Apologies for the difference.

Aftermath!  We'll look forward to taking a video and some pics on your next visit to update your result.
