As a seller of Hair Replacement systems let me clarify the points you make with reference to wigs .
The word wig for years had a stigma attached, just like toupee, cloth cap , or any other word used in the old school days .
The word hair replacement system comes from the fact that wigs and toupees improved over the years and to remove the negativity and the ridiculous stigma attached companies used the word " System " whereby you had your wig mad to order by means of a template and that no elastication was used as in the one size fits all wig market .
In modern terms a wig is something you buy from a shelve and are normally wefted , although you can buy lace wigs for women .
Hair Replacement system is a piece that is made from a template taken for you individual scalp and hair loss shape and is made just to suit and fit the client and their individual needs .
As for the adhesive. Most modern wig or hair system adhesives are skin safe but some people do have sensitive scalps and they needed to be tested on them first. We have over 1700 regular clients and i have never had a client scared by the adhesive. I have had a handful younger clients that found it irritated the scalp and made the attached area a little red and i would suggest they used a good quality tape, such as supertape for bonding.
The bottom line is that a custom made lace wig (Hair System) looks more realistic and sits better than an off the shelf “Wig”. The bottom line is no matter if you choose and off shelf wig or Hair System , once it makes you feel better and gives you back any self esteem issues you may have lost well then its a good thing .
If anybody has any questions in relation to hair , its quality , types of hair , types of bases , or any issues they may have with hair loss solutions i will try my best to answer them for you , with the moderators permission . Although i will state that they are only my experienced opinions and if you have any medical issues you should get the opinion of your own doctor.
I have studied tricology and Alopecia and if i can help i would be happy to do so.
