  1. Thanks, doc. It always helps to be better able to articulate it.
  2. My personal preference is also against the "wall of hair" approach, at least as I understand it. @Stimpson: Funny you should mention those docs, those were my two favorite hairline docs. In fact I think i notice it very consistently (at least in the work portrayed here, which is not as much as H&W) from Cooley. He seems to do a real nice 3V, IMO. I think the best way I can describe it is a "hairline before the hairline". It's definitely a different commodity than the dense packed hairline, of which I am not a huge fan. It's almost like there's a larger transition zone? I can't quite quantify it.
  3. OK. I know everyone has their opinions about surgeons who excel at hairlines and those who excel at crowns. That said, it appears to me that some surgeons most consistenly produce a hairline that is either "hard" or "soft". Obviously there will be exceptions patient by patient, but would anyone proffer there is a "subset" of hairline surgeons who deliver the best soft hairlines. I would contrast such to (what I perceive) as a typical "Armani" hairline. I really prefer the maturing hairline look.
  4. Ot it's the placebo effect or you're just being hypervigilant and noticing something that's been ongoing.
  5. That's a great result, and inspiration for me as I'm a 3V also. I'm in my first month of propecia with no sides, either (actually sex drive is through the roof).
  6. Anyone using this with any success? Matt, I noticed on a post at AM you said you had ordered it, but it seems the thread was locked. How are you doing with it?
  7. It's never wrong to speak openly and honestly about a situation; there's always room for misunderstanding among people with good intent. "Transparency" is one of the reasons this forum is so great. You had a question, the question was answered, the community opined, misunderstandings allayed, everybody's happy!
  8. And IMO if everybody understands the situation there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Nor can anyone doubt the quality of Dr. Rahal's work.
  9. I appreciate Dr. Carman's input on the situation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the main purpose of this forum is to educate patients. Further, Dr. Carman (and others) were invited to reply. If the thread were about the mechanical aspects of the transplant and a patient was considering a doctor who used needles -- but wanted to know how other doctors did things -- would anyone mind if another doc mentioned his practice used blades? Policies are what they are; Dr. Carman can't make Dr. Rahal's practices look bad, and I did not understand that to be his intent.
  10. DHT is a metabolite of testosterone, so it's not a question of your body making more testosterone, it's that more test is staying test because less is being converted to DHT.
  11. I'm also glad I stumbled across this thread. I just started taking propecia this way (EOD) and am glad that thought leaders agree this is a legitimate course of action.
  12. Truth be told, I am probably going to do a strip surgery as I think the yield is better than with a FUE sometime in the future to obtain grafts not harvestable by strip. Dr. Cole was the first doc I've seen.
  13. Yeah, I'd really love to know how I can figure out a concrete number of transplantable grafts from this information.
  14. How many of the 14450 grafts are available? Any way to know?
  15. He recommended 400 on either side of the forelock in front and 800 in the crown. Unless I misunderstood him, he also said 180 cm2 was average, I thought I might actually be a little "light" in donor grafts. This is also why he only recommended 800 in the crown...to budget for future loss in the front, recommending never going over 1500 in the crown to budget hair. Here is a link with pics of my loss. I'm maybe a "hair" thinner (lol) since February. I started propecia this month. I am hoping since some of my hair loss is recent it will really help. On a bright note, I've had absolutely no sides. These pics are wet hair, worst possible light. http://hair-restoration-info.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/346...331023463#8331023463
  16. Is there any way to tell the total number of grafts/hairs available to transplant from this information? (i.e. 7,000 grafts, 16,000 hairs, etc...)
  17. I went for a consult with Dr. Cole in Atlanta and he said: NW 3V, brown hair, fair skin, average hair shaft thickness, straight hair. (my hair was short when I went, I can tell you when it's a bit longer it has a slight wave to it. 170 cm2 donor, 85 follicular units Any suggestions? What's all this mean?

  19. I would disagree with dhoose on point 2; though gyno is a rare side effect in propecia users, for somebody who already HAS gyno, it could be an different story. Do you know why do you have gyno? Are you an AAS/prohormone user? Testicular abnormalities? Drug use (cimetidine/omeprazole/spironolactone, among others)? Or is it idiopathic? Idiopathic gyno is largely presumed to be caused by a sex hormone imbalance and/or a sensitivity in the tissue(s) that respond to them. While the average user statistically has nothing to worry about, you are not the average user.
  20. Probably with a script, no? I think they have a pharmacy.
  21. Following up on my lower thread, here's a product that contains minox sulfate and some other wierd stuff...creatine ethyl ester?!? Anyone know anything about this? http://www.sinere.com/nanominox-ms_en.html MODS: If the link violates TOS, please remove

  23. Products like Spectral DNC claim to use minoxidil sulfate (I think) and it's supposed to be more powerful than other forms of minoxidil. There are people on ebay selling minox sulfate, too. But after some searching, the cheapest I can find minoxidil sulfate for is $25.00 per mg, meaning a single ml of a 5% solution would cost more than $1,250 just to produce. Is my math wrong or am I missing something?
