  1. Hey guys, Does anyone know any good eyebrow transplant doctor/clinic in Australia. I would like to fix big gaps in my eyebrows. Thanks
  2. how did you guys deal with donor site itchyness. its itching like crazy after 7 days nowwwwwwwww.
  3. Hi Dr. Alan Feller thanks for the list. I greatly appreciate it and all the doctors that have added themselves to it. I was about 16 with a big forehead (i had the big forehead since age 11 so its genetic bone shape, not hairloss). But i didn't know that at that time. Friends at high school said i am already losing hair (but ofcourse i wasn't). I thought I just started hairloss at age 11 and by 22 i'd be fully bald. I was really scared. So i looked up ways to stop it or fix it. Surgery was too expensive for me at that time and i didn't have the money. So i saw the hair max comb. Even that was expensive for a high school kid. So i ended up buying one from here... Amazing Laser Brush Photopage -Affordable Laser Brush it claimed to do the same thing as hairmax. So i bought it and used it religiously since age 16. I am 24 now and my hair is pretty much the same except some minor thinning in my temples. Most people could use THAT as justification that laser comb works. Which is incorrect. And i wasn't losing hair at 16 as friends said so in high school. Those in high school that said that have lost alot of hair now. It is amazing how the perceptions changed. And how truth can be twisted. But then I realised that i'd be in the same spot if i didn't use any laser comb. I just wasted my time all those years using the comb. MAYBE at most it kept my hair healthy and better shaft diameter. But i REALLY doubt its anything substantial. I had realised that I just had a large forehead, not really much hair loss. My brother who is 28 now has great head of hair just very minor temple thinning like myself. He also has large forehead. Now i've gone and done a transplant to get a little lower hairline and am happy i did so. Reading this post by Dr. Alan Feller makes want to pick up that laser comb that has wasted so many hours of my life and breaking it in half and throwing it. I used to carry that thing with me like my soul. I used to take it to me on family trips and hide it in my bag so no one saw. And use the comb in the bathroom when everyone slept. I felt like i was a thief doing something bad. The amount of stress and planning i had to do just to use the comb was crazy. Sometimes i noticed my hair would thicken and then go a little thinner. But yet again i am 100% sure it wasn't due to laser comb, it was to do with uni stress. Its known that stress makes you lose hair. And once stress is over, the hair comes back. Which happened with me alot. Plus i am not sure with this, but maybe all the people who claim results with laser comb are just going with the placebo effect. So much belief on the device that any "little" baby hair they see, they'd relate it back to the laser comb. Bottom line, i think laser comb just takes credit for many variables. Dr. Alan Feller, I had one question though. Dr. Glenn Charles did a study on the hair max and said it helped scar healing and reduced shock loss after transplant surgery. Here is the link... Hair transplant articles - LaserComb Clinical Studies What is your thoughts on that?
  4. yes but the way you went about it. With caps, yelling, and things like "FOR GODS SAKE STOP PANICKIN". Like i said, Im sure i am not the only one who gets paranoid after a hair transplant to make sure they are doing everything right for optimum growth and scar healing. You dont have to start yelling. Vincent, yes he did give me a paper with instructions to give to a doctor here in australia. Was told only to cut the blue ones and not the dissolvables. I know i am getting too paranoid but i feel that what if the doctor cuts the dissolvables by mistake. hehe. I really gotta just relax.
  5. wow thanks for such gentle assurance bigcow (sarcasm intended) I am sure i am not the only one getting paranoid about little things after surgery.
  6. the assistants at the clinic said its ok to rub a little on the donor area while shampooing. I dont know why but when i do that, i start to fear what if i "loosen" disolvable sutures. Does anyone else get this fear? Do you rub on the donor area a little while shampooing?
  7. which doctor do your transplant? how did you guys deal with donor area itchyness? I realised its quite itchy after shower. I just tend to move my hair around that kinda eases it. I dont want to scratch it. The most i do sometimes is gently pat it.
  8. Hey guys I got a hair transplant with Dr Damkerng Pathomvanich and the experience was great. He does Trichophytic Closure. Since i only stayed there for few days, he told me to get the sultures removed 6 days after the date of surgery. But looking at most members online and other websites, majority got theirs taken out around 2 weeks after surgery. I read somewhere that waiting too long to take out the sultures can result in a more visible sulture scar. I dont know when to get the sultures removed. I know i should listen to the doctor, but like to get some input on how long after the surgery did other people wait to get their sultures removed.
  9. Hey guys. Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich does not give a written guarantee on the percent of grafts that will grow. In my country Australia, a clinic a did consultation with offered a written guarantee saying that atleast 90% of the grafts will grow. And if they dont within 1 year, that they will do a fix up surgery for free. I know Dr Pat has won follicle award, and has done transplant over 20 years. And has alot of satisfied customers. But a written guarantee not offered, should i be concerned? Thanks
  10. i dont quite agree with the article. It says that "Myth: Bald Guys Have Lots of Testosterone An elevated testosterone level isn't the cause of hair loss. Hair loss results when certain hair follicles on the scalp are highly sensitive to another hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). As a result of this extreme sensitivity, hair follicles shrink and eventually disappear. " I believe testosterone IS connected to hair loss. DHT comes from testosterone conversion. So obviously men with higher testosterone have higher DHT which does accelerate hairloss to some extent. I've known many guys on forums that mention losing more hair after starting intense body building (which produces alot of testosterone for muscle growth). And they noticed that after stopping or slowing down on the heavy weights, their hair loss slows down. Quite a number of people have noticed this. Obviously that applies to men whos hair are sensitive to DHT. For men whos hair aren't sensitive to DHT, they'd not lose more hair if they started intense body building.
  11. Thanks for the reply mate. I am leaning towards Dr Pathomvanich as well. Scar closure is very very good. I guess since i will be travelling alone for the first time, I feel a bit anxious but also excited. hehe Looking at thailands current state. They sometimes have protests and airports can held and tourists get stuck. I think i will reduce my stay in thailand to a minimum. http://www.thai-blogs.com/2011/02/01/is-bangkok-safe-for-a-holiday/
  12. I am going for a HT very very soon. I want to get about 1200 grafts done roughly for hairline work. I want strip procedure, not FUE. I live in Australia and HT is too expensive here. $10 440 for 1200 grafts. That is $8.7 per graft!!! Yikes!! Dr Pathomvanich has shown great results. With barely visible donor scar. Dr Madhu has had more indian patients (such as myself), so I dont know his experience with other races. Beow is the comparison price wise. Either I go India or Thailand for the transplant. I didn't take into account food prices ofcourse and other minor costs. This are just estimates. Dr Pathomvanich price is 85 baht per graft. So that $2.76 in Australian dollar. For 1200 grafts that is $3312. Price of return flight from bangkok is $900. Hotel stay for about 5 days is abou $300. That comes to a total of $4500. Still cheaper than $10 000 if i did it in sydney. Plus i get a quick holiday at Bangkok. Dr Madhu price is 50 Rupees per graft. That is $1.1 in Australian dollar. For 1200 grafts that is $1320. The actual procedure cost is already 2.5 times cheaper than Dr Pathomvanich. But price of return from Hyderabad is $1300 though. Hotel stay for about 5 days is about $350. That comes to a total of $2970. So there is roughly $1500 dollars difference between the 2 journeys. Not much. Both these surgeons seem to do great work. I dont know who to go with. Dr madhu seems to have more experience with Indians such as myself. But Dr Pathomvanich just seems so sincere and genuine and such consistent results and GREAT donor closure. Dr Madhu does body hair transplantation as well, which is great since i am considering body hair on eyebrows. But I feel more content with Dr Pathomvanich consistent results. I dont know who to go with. Any input would be great guys.
  13. I've read a article that says if you use laser comb after HT, that there is less shock loss, and fasting healing of scar. I am guessing this is due to increased blood flow caused by the laser. Hair transplant articles - LaserComb Clinical Studies Any have any experience with this? Or know anyone that achieved fasting healing?
  14. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/136108-my-experiance-dr-madhu-pathuri-9.html Shines apparently had a bad experience with Dr Madhu but fails to provide any proof of his claims. He talked about front hairline but posted pictures of his crowns months later. Is there any active member in this forum that has done HT from Dr Madhu and has got good results from FUE? I am really considering this doctor but would like active members input rather than just a recommendation from this website.
  15. is seems to do body hair transplantation. And eyebrow transplantation. Has anyone got that done with him?
  16. Hey guys. I've read alot of posts on this website. And from alot of research come to learn that Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich is a good choice for hair transplant. But he only does strip method. And he has a 3 month waiting list so I thought I'd look for another quality doctor for a good price. I looked on this site and found that Dr Madhu from India is well reputed. He has worked on alot of indian patients. I am Indian as well so i feel comfortable knowing he has worked with our type of hair alot (black, thick hair). The prices are veryyyyyyyy cheap. I am doubting quality though. But I have seen some good results from him so i dont know. He does $4 US/graft for FUE and $1.1 US/graft for strip method. How good are his FUE results? Does he produce consistent good result? Dr.Madhu:::Hair Transplant Surgeon, India- Hyderabad::: for best Quality & Results::: to educate about advise for Hairloss He does long hair transplantation. I am suspicious of this. Why would he do that when the transplanted hair has danger of falling off due to hair weight? And in the youtube video, he is combing the hair 8 hours after its transplanted? isn't that a risk, it could pull out the hairs. Unless he applied some special glue to the grafts, which i doubt is safe? I'd like to know more about this doctors results. He's prices are REALLY good and if he does good FUE, i will get it done by him. Thanks guys
  17. this is a good post and i would like to know the outcome as well.
  18. so how come there is shock loss on areas that hasn't been transplanted?
  19. I got a estimate quote of around 1100 grafts. I am not on any medication. Been using laser comb for years. Dont know how much that may have helped though. Does Dr Pat do FUE? his profile says he does. Damkerng Pathomvanich, MD Hair Transplant Surgeon in Bangkok , Thailand
  20. thank you for the quick reply. Those prices are definitely cheap. I got a quote from Australia costing $10 000 for 1200 grafts. thats like $8.3 AU per graft. VERY expensive. If i do it in thailand, it will cost me $2.9 per graft. That is very good price. I save more than half plus i get a holiday in thailand. His page... Damkerng Pathomvanich, MD Hair Transplant Surgeon in Bangkok , Thailand ...says he does eye brow and eyelash transplantation as well. Is this outdated info or does he do it?
  21. Hey guys. I've read alot of posts on this website. And from alot of research come to learn that Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich is a good choice for hair transplant. I am 25 years old and I am going to go to thailand for holiday and though why not get a hair transplant as well. I will be getting very minor surgery. maybe around 1000 grafts just on the frontal region and maybe on the temples. I have emailed Dr. Damkerng Pathomvanich but haven't got a reply yet. I live in Australia. Is it possible to book him from here? Whats the closest hotel to that clinic? It would make the whole process easier. And does anyone know how much it roughly cost per graft? Thanks guys
