  1. It took over 2 years for my transplanted hair to achieve the same texture as the rest, it is now straight and manageable but it definitely did not reach this stage after 18 months. I guess everybody's different but maybe it took a bit longer in my case. Patience, patience ........
  2. Nice going Pat and best wishes for rapid healing and regrowth. I am also looking for more density in my next, and I hope final, HT. When I recently consulted with Dr. DeYarman he told me he would prefer me to shave my recipient area to achieve the UR dense packing I am looking for. I think I understand better his reasons from reading the previous comments, nevertheless, I would have a very hard time shaving since I would be contemplating about 4 months of acceptable regrowth before looking normal again and since the whole point of the HT is to look as if nothing happened ....... IMHO, the shaving gives the surgeons a nice safety net to limit transsection and better visibility to better align the axis of the punch holes that will receive the new FU's, it's also a big time saver for them. If think a dedicated MD will take the extra time and effort to work around the fully grown hair already in place so the patient does not have to shave. Thanks to this forum and Pat's dedication we are constantly pushing the envelope and many Dr's. are updating and improving their techniques to keep up with more knowledgeable and more demanding patients.
  3. Thank you all, that's very helpful. I heard about the Indian labs producing it but I do not trust their products, it would be nice to get a US lab to analyse a sample. A patent is worldwide, whether it's made in China, Taiwan or India ..... How can they get away with this without legal consequences? India trades with the US, it should be enforceable.
  4. IMHO it depends on your facial proportions, generally, sideburns look good if you have a strong chin, but not always ....
  5. Thanks hairbank, I am thinking of switching to Proscar once my Propecia runs out, I might also go to one every other day but gradually, any recos on how to best do this? Has the patent run out on Propecia? Typically when this occurs you can buy the generic form.
  6. Where are you located geographically speaking? Propecia will slow down your hair loss or even maybe stop it and regrow a little of your hair in the best cases. You have come to the best place for your research, spend time reading the posts, explore the www.hairtransplantnetwork.com which was created by the same person who started this forum, you will find the best ways to deal with your hair loss right here. Keep us posted on your progress.
  7. I keep hearing from time to time about the availability of the generic form of Propecia, I see it on the web, waaaaay cheaper, of course. Has the patent expired, is it real or ist it just bogus? Also, any news regarding people taking Avodart and Proscar (cut 4 ways) as to long term effectiveness vs. Propecia? I have read most of the older blogs, I was wondering if there is any newer research.
  8. Pix taken 10/7/06 after 849 FU HT 3 years ago Now looking for density and thinking of Ultra Refined I want to lower the hairline a little and densily pack the areas as needed

  10. The scar is visible only if you part the hair in that area and look closely, my hairdresser saw the scar but that's it. I don't know about Dr. Straub's skill in hiding scars but he has a very long experience of surgery and I remember him mentionning that he takes great pride in his "closing" of donor areas.
  11. He performed 849 grafts on me about 1.5 years ago, he did an excellent job all around, very nice work on donor area scar, I can't wait to be able to afford the next (and hopefully final) session
  12. They do a lot of print advertising, $2.00 per graft, has anyone experienced their services? Doctors names? Etc....
