Very funny picture! Or creepy depending on your mood...

I have a feeling we won't hear from this Dr on this site again

Asia, India, etc... seem to me to be what North America must have been before public access consumer driven forums such as this one forced the unethical doctors to clean up their act or disappear. It sure still is the free for all on the wild frontier over there.

Sorry to hear about your experience, please give us the details of your story, the surgeon, etc... It is helpful to this community.

I guess you are referring to low yield, where after strip surgery a patient gets less than 80% growth in the recipient area. Is this correct?

  3. Average cost for strip is 4 to 6 per FU so figure around $5. These 2 surgeons are recommended here and very good choices, I would also consult with Dr Siporin, he did my HT and he is great, check out my hair web log from the link below, more consults mean more knowledge and a better decision making process.

  4. Notsosure,

Your case is similar to mine in certain areas, I was in my forties, my loss was around a NW 2, many people told me to wait and that I did not need to do a HT. Check out my Hair web log to see my early pictures.

I can see you have some recession but it's still minor, I would agree it's a bit early to do a HT. The best thing to do at your age is to stabilize the loss with Finasteride and maybe a shampoo. I understand your concerns with the drug's potential side effects, very few people experience them but you never know... In my case I take 1/4 Proscar (generic) per day, I use Revita shampoo and I do one in office laser session per week. I still think Finasteride is very safe, if you get bad side effects you can always try it for 6 months then stop and the effects will be reversed, use a good shampoo like Revita, go do a few in office laser sessions and see how it goes, given your low hair loss I bet you you'll get good enough results that you'll postpone your HT until your forties, with luck you may not even need one at all if you respond well to all these treatments.

  5. Hello and welcome to the forum,

As we tell all new members we'll need your statistics so we can guide you better:

    - Age 30

    - Are you taking any kind of Finasteride/Dutasteride or using Minoxidil?

    - Take pictures of you hair, top, front, back and sides and post them here in the photo album section, you'll get a lot of expert advice. For the best way to take pics go to:

    http://www.hairtransplantmento...-loss-photo-tips.htm

    - Ask as many questions as you need, we are here to help. Research, read, learn as much as you can on this forum and on the Multimedia Hair Loss Learning Center:

    http://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/

    - Once you are a bit more familiar with the terminology and the different approaches you can guesstimate your own Norwood scale:

    http://hairloss.cyberatlantis....ry/norwood_scale.php

    - Check members Hair Loss Weblogs to find cases similar to yours, the doctors who did their HT and their results:

    http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/

    - You can also play with the graft calculator to get an idea:

    http://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/mm/calc.html

Don't rush, the more you know, the better the choices you'll make. Some members spend months and sometimes more than one year researching before reaching their best educated decision.

We are looking forward to more of your details so we can be more helpful.

The tight scalp sensation is temporary for the vast majority of patients, only a few weeks after surgery, when you go to a good surgeon.

  6. So many reasons to want to go back to get more... I also wanted to get only one HT and be done but it rarely works out this way.

-Most Dr.'s will not recommend you get too MUCH more than you need, as the patient you tend to agree and you have to watch the expense too.

    - As Jobi said a good Dr. will talk his patient in being conservative, you never know exactly what the future holds and you don't want your HT to be so noticeable.

-If satisfied you tend to get used to the additional hair, you become more aware of others around you and compare, that's the start of Hair Greed.

-Even though Finasteride has kept my hair loss in check I don't think it has completely stopped it, I probably get more miniaturization as the years go by thus increasing my perception of less density.

-I can see a real benefit to touch up sessions using FUE as people age, say, 2 to 500 FU's every other year or 18 months to stay ahead of the curve. If FUE became cheaper which it might that would be great!

  7. Thank you Eman. I just looked again at your picture blog taken the day of the HT and just after, compared them with your recent pix of the end of Dec 08 at 3 months, this is very impressive! At only 3 months it is really starting to show some noticeable filling, at the top of course but the temples maybe even more spectacular on the pictures and they do so much as you said to frame the shape of the face, at this rate your friends won't recognize you at the six months mark. We'll see at the end of March and compare notes again, I can't wait.

  8. On December 11, 2008 we took pictures that I posted on my Hair Loss Blog update, the link is at the end of this post.

Everything looks really good so far, the re-growth seems to be right on schedule, the donor scar is almost invisible, only some redness still gives it away which should go away in a few more months. I am looking forward to the 6 months mark, then one year which is when I should be able to see very close to what the final results are before the full maturation which could take up to a couple of years. I shall be posting more pictures around the 6 months mark. Thank you for everyone's support and advice.

  10. Well said Bill. Not having the responsibilities of the site moderator I would have used much harsher terms in contrast to your restraint and diplomacy. What a bunch of BS, so typical, no wonder it's so hard to recommend a good Dr, there are already so many unethical crooks in North America it sounds like you can literally get away with much worse over there. It's going to be impossible to verify constant quality results with such shady feedback.

  11. The nerves run from the neck up to the top of the head, so the area just below the donor scar will have most of it's normal network while the area above the scar takes several months for the network to heal and reconnect. My last HT was about 2.5 months ago and I have recovered most of the sensations but it still feels weird, I remember in my 2nd HT it took about one year before the strange sensations stopped and it felt completely normal. Please tell us who did your HT and if you care to share your experience with a Hair Web Log it would be helpful to our community. Breezie, you are experiencing normal side effects, happy healing and growing.

  12. I have used Revita for over a year, it is the best shampoo I have found so far, I tried quite a few in the past few years. My hair is naturally thin and dry and Revita makes it full and healthy and shiny plus it helps slow the hair loss. I am always suspicious of new products but I am quite impressed with Revita, I don't know of anything better at the moment. I find the best prices on EBay and sometimes on Amazon when I buy it in quantities of 3 or 4.
