  1. That's a great suggestion NN. I hope some HT clinic employees or Docs step up anonymously of course. It's a win win situation for all. Bruce Willis would have a scar we can see on the back of his head I guess ...

Bill, like Brad Pitt I don't think he got one, he looks so natural!!!

  2. Echoing my buddies above, if you take generic Proscar it's even cheaper, my health insurance picks up most of it, it's around 12 bucks for 30 pills which last 4 months. It does not get any cheaper than this with reliable US made scripts.

Personally, I would definitely NOT take the chance to stop Finasteride for a few months, the resulting loss may never come back meaning another HT looming in the future.

  3. Welcome Itay,

Read this entire thread from the beginning you'll find some info. I believe there is no definite knowledge about this Doc, if I were you I would do further research before making a decision, I know your brother was happy but still I would explore other options, comparing is learning .

Here's my standard start up kit:

As we tell all new members we'll need your statistics:

    - Age

    - Are you taking any kind of Finasteride/Dutasteride or Minoxidil? If so which one, brand, generic?

    - Take pictures of you hair, top, front, back and sides and post them here in the photo album section, you'll get a lot of expert advice. For the best way to take pics go to:

    http://www.hairtransplantmentor.com/hair-loss-photo-tips.htm

    - Ask as many questions as you need, we are here to help. Research, read, learn as much as you can on this forum and on the Multimedia Hair Loss Learning Center:

    http://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/

    - Once you are a bit more familiar with the terminology and the different approaches you can guesstimate your own Norwood scale:

    - Check members Hair Loss Weblogs to find cases similar to yours, the doctors who did their HT and their results:

    http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/

    - You can also play with the graft calculator to get an idea:

Don't rush, the more you know, the best choices you'll make. Some members spend months here before reaching their best educated decision.

We are looking forward to more of your details so we can be more helpful.

  4. I still think Sting had a HT done in such a way that it gives him mostly density versus coverage, so his hair looks only slightly better than he did 20 years ago.

On Nicolas Cage, the trailers of his new movie, ghost rider clearly shows a big HT job, just one year ago he looked drastically different. I hear Sly Stallone got several as well.

The biggest transformation I can think of IMO is Elton John.

  6. Welcome Cyberdud,

    Nobuzz gave great advice.

The first thing to do is to get on Finasteride to stop the hair loss and/or even regrow some.

In a perfect world most of us would prefer to get only one HT, I was a good candidate for just one but I only found this wonderful forum after my first HT icon_frown.gif so I had to go in for a second HT.

    My recommendation:

    - Take Finasteride for 6 months to 1 year to see your results, keep in mind that if you respond well you'll have to take it for the rest of your life if you want to maintain your hair.

    - In the meantime read and research patients and Dr's on this forum so you can make the best educated decision

Dr. Shapiro is one of the superstar HT MD's, check with other coalition Docs to get different perspectives and you'll come to making the best educated decision.

  8. Nice going NoBuzz,

This looks like you'll get very nice density and coverage on your frontal area after it all grows. I'll venture to guess that this latest experience is the one that'll make the most drastic change in your look.

  9. Gorpy,

Thanks for posting your most recent pictures. Your case is very similar to mine, I also just got a small HT and I was looking for a bit of refining and added density. You look very good and the results will be great, it's nice for me to see such a similar situation.

  10. I'll probably never know for sure if taking it on an empty stomach is what made the difference but it worked for me so I keep doing it. Before that, I used to take it before bedtime and after dinner.

As NN was saying, I based this choice on the logic that on an empty digestive sytem, as I am in the morning when I get up, I am probably getting better absorbtion and longer lasting effects, rather than the drug being more diluted after the dinner food and the more tired evening metabolism.

  11. I think it's fascinating to get the two perspectives in this thread. How quickly we forget that some people may have an extremely opposed point of view and with just as much merit ... I speak for myself, but sometimes I tend to forget that some people really mind having a scar, for me there's no hesitation, no hair or hair and a scar that no one can see .... I go for the scar and the hair.
