  1. raj,

Looks like you're a diffuse thinner. Personally,

I'd do 2 procedures, one to address the front and mid scalp and the other to address the crown.

Costs vary between $3 and $4 per graft on average.

Its easier said than done, but don't let cost or travel be a factor in your decision. Consult a number of clinics and pick the doctor you feel most comfortable with.

You can find a list of coalition doctors here

Take your time, do your research and in the mean time consider getting concealers like dermatch and toppik. They can do wonders for diffuse thinners when used correctly.

    Good luck!

  2. To answer your questions succinctly,

    1. Feller is an outstanding doc...he should be on everyone's top 5.

    2. Everybody feels comfortable after different amounts of time. Some people don't like looking bald even if there is no remaining redness and choose to wear hats longer than others. The truth is, nobody knows how long they'll need to wear a hat, since nobody can predict how they'll heal and whether or not shock loss will hit.

    3. I wouldn't do postage size procedures. If thats all you need, consider putting off surgery. In a few years, it will be even more refined than it is now (though honestly i'm not sure how icon_smile.gif).

    4. H&W are top docs, but lots of docs do good hairlines. It boils down to who you feel most comfortable with, in the end.

Sounds like you've already done quite a bit of resarch. Good luck with your decision!

  3. Chethan,

Use the search feature on the site and you'll find recommendations for several surgeons.

You can find a list of

    coalition docs

    which are recommended by HTN.

There's a lot of good surgeons out there who get consistently good results, and picking one is a personal choice. Get several consults and find someone who you're completely comfortable with.

FYI, there are some great surgeons in Canada too.

  4. some people don't have good enough donor characteristics for a great transplant (due to density or scalp laxity or both). Thats why it is important to have *multiple* *ethical* surgeons evaluate you before you decide on a transplant. A good surgeon will be able to level set your expectations based on your donor characteristics, and that is really important before deciding on a transplant.
