  1. I'm about 7 months post op and just got back from vacation. I went out without my hat, in the sun and found that my scalp was very sensitive. My recepient area had alot of redness which kind of freaked me out.I wore a hat for the rest of my trip and the redness went away. So my advice is either wear a hat or use some spray on sunscreen for your scalp.

At 4 months, your grafts are well set, but don't risk sunburn.

  2. Hi

I'm about 6 months and 2 weeks out from my procedure and everything is growing nicely. I'm on vacation and I took the liberty of ditching the hat when I went out a couple of days ago. I wasn't out for too long (maybe an hour) in the sun, but i'm noticing some redness in the recepient area, when i pull my hair back. Its not sunburn..but I'm freaking out. Anything I can or should be doing?

  3. My doc shaved my recipient area. I had to wear a hat to work for the 1st month. After that I shaved down the sides and back and used dermatch to conceal the scar. That worked pretty well.

You can check out my blog for pics. I didn't suffer too much shockloss (which was a pleasant surprise since I am a diffuse thinner), which made it easier to conceal the ht as the hair on top was mostly uniform even when the new grafts shed.

As the others have pointed out, a lot depends on whether you have your head shaved for surgery. All in all, the first 2 months, or the ugly duckling stage is rough, but the return on investment is well worth the inconvenience.

  4. Hi all!

Can't believe its been 5 months. The first 2 months dragged on forever but once I was able to ditch the hat and resume my "normal" activities, time has really flown!

Here are two sets of pics. The first set has a my hair combed forward, for comparison with previous months when it was too short for any styling

and the second set with my hair parted on the side and combed up.

Let me know what you guys think.
