  1. This is a patient who came in for follow-up a few months ago. He was about 12 months postop from a transplant to strengthen the frontal hairline as he was finding that it was thinning slowly over time. We decided to transplant 260 single grafts, 745 double grafts, and 215 three haired grafts, for a total count of 1220 grafts. He is very happy with the results and he is considering thickening other areas of the scalp. Dr. N FRONTAL VIEW PRE AND POST TOP AND SIDE VIEW WITH CLOSE UP OF HAIRLINE
  2. This is a patient who came in a few weeks ago for followup. He is about 7 months post op and he had wanted to fill in his temples and thicken up the crown. He was interested in FUE as he did not want a scar line. He is very happy with the results so far! He received 380 single grafts, 1160 double grafts, and 620 big grafts, for a total of 2160 grafts. Of interest, I think the pre-op photos of the crown don't do justice to the amount of thinning he has diffusely through that area. You can get a better sense of the area we filled in when looking at the immediate post-op photo of the crown area. There is also no photo of the crown with the patient in an upright seated position. The person I am training to take the postop photos neglected to take this shot this time. Also, the postop photo from the right temple doesn't really capture the extent of the improvement due to the way the head is tilted in the photo. 3. This is a patient who came in for follow-up last week approximately 11-12 months after his surgery. He had wanted to lower his frontal hairline and keep his hairline fairly flat. Although I discourage this in a lot of my patients because of the possibility of future hair loss, after a long discussion about the need for future hair transplants and possible outcomes, we decided that it was a reasonable risk in this patient given his degree of hair loss, age, and family history. He received 233 single grafts, 965 double grafts, and 280 big grafts, for a total count of 1484 grafts. Of note, he had a very strong pre-existing cowlick in the right frontal hairline that we had to follow as it was so strong. Dr. N
  4. I haven't posted many of my FUE cases yet so I thought I would post this small case that just came in last week for consideration of a second transplant. When he first came in about 11-12 months ago, he had wanted to do a small FUE case just to fill in the left temple. He did not want to do the right side, only the left. We proceeded to do a 408 graft FUE case using a blunt punch. He is thrilled with the density he received and now wants to fill in the right side in the same way. We harvested and inserted 98 single grafts, 250 double grafts, and 60 big grafts, for a total count of 408 grafts. I have attached his preop, postop, and immediate post op photos for you. As you can see in his postop photo, he likes to keep his hair short so FUE was definitely the way to go for him. Thanks, Dr. N
  5. This is a woman who always had a high hairline and wanted to lower it. She came in last week for follow-up and was very happy with her results. She felt much more confident with the lower hairline. Approximately one year ago, she received 386 single grafts, 856 double grafts, and 375 big grafts, for a total count of 1617 grafts via FUT. I included some photos of planned hairline, as well as the immediate post-op, and some before and afters. Dr. N
  6. This is a patient who came in recently for follow-up. He felt that he was receding quite a bit and wanted to fill in some of his hairline. He also wanted to avoid a linear scar so that he could shave later if he wanted. We did his transplant about two years ago and used 278 single grafts, 597 double grafts, and 395 big grafts, for a total count of 1270 grafts. We did this with manual FUE and used a blunt punch to make the extractions. The incisions were made using the lateral slit technique. We transplanted into his temples and area immediately behind his frontal forelock as this was thinning. He is very happy with the results. I have included some before and after shots, as well as a shot immediately after some extractions. Dr. N
  7. This is a patient who came in recently for follow-up three years after his transplant. He had wanted to fill in the vertex of his scalp as he was starting to get some noticeable thinning. Three years ago, we placed 316 single grafts, 548 double grafts, and 331 big grafts, for a total count of 1195 grafts. He is very happy with the outcome and has not noticed any significant thinning around the transplanted area yet. Dr. N
  8. This is a patient who came in looking to restore his frontal hairline. He came back recently to fill in towards the crown and I thought I would post his interim results. He received 753 single grafts, 1455 double grafts, and 450 big grafts, for a total count of 2658 grafts to the frontal scalp. His post-op results are 8-9 months post surgery. He is very happy with his initial results and is looking forward to the crown growing in. 9. This is a patient who came in recently for follow-up. He had received a transplant 5 years ago into his temple areas. He has relatively fine hair and received 208 single grafts, 563 double grafts, and 296 big grafts, for a total count of 1068 grafts. He is very happy with the results 5 years out. Dr. N
  10. This patient came in for follow-up a few weeks ago, and he was about 7 months post procedure. He had received 1963 grafts to the frontal scalp (319 single grafts, 1132 double grafts, and 412 big grafts, for a total count of 1863 grafts) and is happy with the thickening he is seeing at this stage. I informed him he will continue to see more improvement over the next 5-7 months. Dr. N
  11. This is a pt who came in recently for his 12 month follow-up. He was thinning significantly in the frontal scalp and wanted to restore and rejuvenate the frontal scalp. Interestingly, he had asymmetric hair loss with considerable frontal loss with retention of a significant part of the left frontal forelock and hairline. We transplanted 1121 single grafts, 1265 double grafts, and 391 big grafts, for a total count of 2777 grafts into the frontal scalp except for a large portion of the left frontal hairline. He is very happy with the results and feels that the transplanted hair has blended very well with his preexisting hair. 12. This is a patient who came in recently for follow-up, approximately 11 months after his transplant. He wanted to fill in the weak areas of his scalp, leaving the stronger areas alone, and we therefore filled in his vertex and frontal scalp, but left his frontal forelock and midscalp area untouched. He received 965 single grafts, 2266 double grafts, and 574 big grafts, for a total count of 3805 grafts. He is very happy with the results and understands that if he experiences further hair loss (e.g. in the frontal forelock area), we will have to transplant this for him. Dr. N
  13. Thanks everyone for the comments! Drchaudhry, I used 0.7 mm chisel blade slits for the hairline, no needles. Dr. N
  14. This is a patient who came in a few weeks ago for follow-up. He had his transplant in April 2015 and is therefore about 8-9 months post-op. He wanted to lower his frontal hairline and fill in his temples. He didn't really have any weakness elsewhere throughout his scalp and we therefore decided we could be more aggressive with filling in his temples. He is very happy with his results so far and he will likely improve more with time. He received 460 single grafts, 1011 double grafts, and 462 big grafts, for a total count of 1933 grafts. Dr. N
  15. This is a patient who came in for follow-up approximately 6 months post-op. Prior to the transplant, he had a very large area of thinning extending from the hairline to the vertex and wanted to fill in the frontal 1/2 of his scalp. We performed a 3643 graft procedure to thicken up the frontal scalp. He received 1001 single grafts, 2134 double grafts, and 328 big grafts. He had a disproportionately small number of three hair grafts but we were still able to cover in the desired area. He is very happy with his 6 month results and he should expect significant thickening over the next 6 months or so. In the future, he may fill in the rest of his scalp as well if he has sufficient laxity in his donor area. Dr. N
  16. This is a patient who came in last week for follow-up. When I first saw her, she had great hair except for her temples. This bothered her because she felt uncomfortable pulling her hair back and she wanted to reshape her hairline in the temples. About two years ago, we transplanted 319 single grafts, 509 double grafts, and 199 big grafts, for a total count of 1022 grafts. She is very happy with the results. 17. This is a patient who came in this week for follow-up. He had a transplant done years ago and recently decided to try to find a way to hide these old grafts. We decided to fill in the frontal half of the scalp and focus on hiding the plugginess of the previous grafting. We put in 466 single grafts, 1329 double grafts, and 706 big grafts, for a total count of 2501 grafts. These results are 8 months post transplant and I informed the patient that it is very possible that this will continue to thicken over the next 4-5 months. He may consider filling in the crown at a later date. 18. This is a younger man who was concerned about his receding temples. He wanted to fill these in and after discussing the alternatives, risks, and limitations of the procedure, we proceeded with a small transplant to the temples. I warned him about the possibility of future hair loss and he was comfortable with this possibility. We transplanted 241 single grafts, and 534 double grafts, and 230 big grafts, for a total count of 1005 grafts to the temples. These results are about 11 months out. 19. This is a woman who wanted to fill in her temples because they had always been thin and she hated pulling her hair back. She also wanted a small widow's peak. We put in 191 single grafts, and 333 double grafts, and 231 big grafts, for a total count of 755 grafts. These are her results after 1.5 years. She is very happy with the improvement and is much more comfortable pulling her hair back. 20. This is a patient who came in to the office a week ago. He had a transplant about 4-5 years ago to fill in the temples and to strengthen some of the hairline. He received 303 single grafts, 686 double grafts, and 227 big grafts, for a total count of 1216 grafts. The transplant has held up quite well over the last four years, particularly since he has likely lost some of his pre-existing hair in the more anterior part of the hairline through natural thinning. 21. This patient wanted to thicken up his frontal scalp and lower his hairline in the temples. We transplanted 566 single grafts, 1236 double grafts, and 918 big grafts, for a total count of 2720 grafts. We did the transplant just over 14 months ago and he came in recently for follow-up. He is very happy with the improvement. 22. This is a patient who had considerable hair loss to the top of his scalp. He came in last week for follow-up. We transplanted 3056 grafts about 12 months ago (919 single grafts, 1723 double grafts, and 414 big grafts). He tells me he is much more comfortable about his hair now. I have attached his photos below. He is using some coverup in the vertex of the post-op photos. 23. This is patient who first came in about 6 years ago for a hair transplant to the frontal scalp. He had relatively fine hair and a certain amount of grafts he wanted to use. We decided to fill in the frontal scalp and to leave the vertex. We also sited his hairline a little higher up as it was evident that he was in for further ongoing hair loss and we wanted to be safe. In addition, we had a finite amount of grafts to work with and he had fine hair. We put in 797 single grafts, 1317 double grafts, and 646 big grafts, for a total count of 2760 grafts. His postoperative photos were from 9 months post-op. He disappeared for awhile but returned more recently wanting to fill in the vertex. We put in 359 single grafts, 622 double grafts, and 299 big grafts, for a total count of 1280 grafts. I have attached his recent photos here and will update them once he returns for follow-up. 24. This is a patient who came in for follow-up about 4 years after his first surgery. In total, he had received approximately 3500 grafts to the hairline, temples, temple points, and vertex. He received 787 singles, 1983 doubles, and 835 big grafts. He had an initial transplant followed by two small procedures to touch up thinning areas. Interestingly, he is most happy with the temple points as he feels that this made a significant impact with a small number of grafts.
