Regular Member Jjarden Posted March 4, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted March 4, 2010 Just had my transplant and asked the doc if I should use vitamin E oil on the recipient area, and he said it wasn't necessary, and to just keep it moist with a spray bottle of distilled water. Thoughts on this advice? Also, if someone were to use an oil, would the less expensive Olive Oil do the trick vs the more expensive Vitamin E oil? Senior Member badger_01 Posted March 5, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted March 5, 2010 The oil helps prevent crusting. I used mineral oil. My advice would be to listen to your doc and keep the area moist with your spray bottle. If you notice crusting starting to develop, then mineral oil will help. - badger 3279 grafts with Dr Gabel - 06/12/08 My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Gabel
Regular Member MikeyJ Posted March 12, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted March 12, 2010 Dr. Alexander recommended that on post-op days 3 - 10 to use Neosporin or Bacitracin. He instructed that I apply either to my scabs 1 hour prior to showering. I did what he instructed; however, I did use mineral oil on post-op days 7 and 8 and by day 9 or 10, all of my scabs were gone. I was never told to use a spray bottle to keep them moist. However, I would follow whatever your physician tells you.
