Regular Member kg0 Posted February 3, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted February 3, 2009 Hello, I posted this as an update to another thread of mine, but didn't get any responses. I had a hair transplant 6 months ago with Dr. Ross in La Jolla, CA. This was a transplant into scar tissue. It doesn't seem like that great of a result to me, but if so, I'm sure it's because of the scar tissue, not the doctor. http://hair-restoration-info.c...6060861/m/1871084583 Let me know what you guys think. Would a second surgery help significantly? Thanks, Keith

Bill - Seemiller
Keith, Can you give us a little more detail about your surgery? How many grafts did you receive and where? Do you have before or surgical photos we can look at? 6 months is still too early to evaluate the final result. It's a good idea to give the result a full year to grow in before drawing a proper conclusion. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member Mr. GQ Posted February 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 3, 2009 crown area + scar hmmmm.... it will take much longer to see final results than a regular HT that's for sure. 6 months is nothing. i'd give it a year and a half for final conclusion. how did you get that scar so big if you don't mind me asking? Regular Member kg0 Posted February 3, 2009 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 3, 2009 Hi guys, See the original thread for surgical photos: http://hair-restoration-info.c...6060861/m/1871084583 I received 357 grafts in the crown area. There's a longer scar down the back isn't shown well in the "update" photos. I received 275 grafts there. I was born with "aplasia cutis" and had 2 plastic surgeries to reduce the size of the round scar, but they just changed the shape of the scar after stretching. http://dermnetnz.org/lesions/aplasia-cutis.html Thanks, Keith
Senior Member Mr. GQ Posted February 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 3, 2009 hey thanks for the extra info. had 2 plastic surgeries to reduce the size of the round scar, but they just changed the shape of the scar after stretching so are you happy with those 2 procedures? sounds to me that scalp reduction was performed on both patches correct? not sure if 630 grafts are enough for 2 big scars but i could be wrong. the bottom line is wait and see and eventually time will tell. don't stress about nothing and just relax you'll be fine
Regular Member kg0 Posted February 3, 2009 Author Regular Member Share Posted February 3, 2009 Actually, the 2 plastic surgeries were NOT hair transplants. They basically removed the bald spot and sewed my scalp back up. (That's how I got the long scar in back) This hair transplant surgery was done after these 2 plastic surgeries essentially failed. Senior Member Reverse the Curse Posted February 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 3, 2009 kg0 that looks pretty good so far for ht in scar tissue. you will need another ht or 2 over time. the coarseness & wildness should calm down over time. good luck rtc
