2000 strip Feller

Hi all,

After reading this forum and a few others on and off for the past year and a bit, I thought it would be only right to write up a little report of my experience in New York. After doing my research, working out the costs, everything led me to Dr feller, without question. I had been to see dr rogers from uk and I wasnt convinced at all. He suggested I have 1000 strip - I remembering wanting more than that done, but he wouldnt due to my young age (25) and wouldnt give me the look I wanted. But at least I went to see him and heard what he had to say. Soon after I realised If I want anything done properly, im going to have to travel. I looked at fellers website and was amazed by the results, checked on here and other forums of the like and seen the same thing, so I knew his quality was of a high standard. I emailed spex and got some info, I planned to go and see him but to be honest even before I spoke to him I was already convinced feller was the right doctor for me, and after many emails I decided to take the plunge and put a date on it - October 1st. I was told it was best to stay at a hotel near the clinic, but I really wanted to be in manhattan so I went against the advice but Im so glad I did - what a city! icon_smile.gif, I stayed at Radisson Lexington with my girlfriend, superb hotel for the price, had everything and much more, It was a great start to the 'holiday' after becoming friends with our taxi driver (who took us out and around NYC that same night after he finished). We learnt he wasnt an 'official' taxi driver, although it was hard to tell the difference at jfk - but if we diddnt meet him we wouldnt of done half the stuff we did!, But I guess its best to go with an official taxi, altho less fun. Arrived at hotel at about 3.30pm, showered, changed and went out for a meal in hard rock cafe in times square, walked all around and by this point id been up for about 23 hours, got in about 10.30 Ny time and had a real deep nice sleep before surgery. Surgery day came and I wasnt absolutely sh***ing myself!, I was completely fine before hand. Got a taxi from Manhattan to fellers office for $95 (+tip). If you are staying in Manhattan, just get the train from penn station to great neck, it takes about 15 minutes and is about $10. I just wanted to make sure I was on time for feller, so I got the taxi there and train on way back. Got to fellers about 20 mins early, sat in reception just as he was finishing off another guy (another andy actually). We went into his office, im sure you all know the routine but Ill quickly go through it, pictures taken, hair line drew up and into the far room to be injected at donor. Pretty much painless, its the sound which I hate more. Instantly the numbing takes effect and I sat alone for 10 minutes to be completely numb. He and his lovely team come back and start to cut the strip, obviously all completely pain free but again the sound of skin crunching isn't nice icon_smile.gif. The techs then go and do their thing and chop the strip all up ready to be inserted. While this is going on feller is making his holes in my reciptient area/ I kept asking questions probably too many and he told me to be quiet for this part icon_smile.gif. Was great watchin him work, ultra concentrated just getting done what needs done. More time passes and the techs start placing graphs into the holes, while soaking my head with water (I never asked what so much water was for but im guessing to help seal the graph/hole). 5 hours (ish) from when I entered the building I was about to leave. He was pleased with how it went and told me how good im going to look icon_smile.gif. I then found out at the end feller had given me 2000 graphs. I only paid for 1500!! I couldnt believe it - I told him in his office at the start of the day the graphs he suggested I needed from the photos spex sent him (1500) was at my limit of what I could afford, (also going off dr rogers suggesting i need 1000, I could not afford anything over 1500). But for those who are still unsure for whatever reason about feller, hes the most geniune person you will meet, he diddnt have to give me 500 extra, and I worked out he saved me about $1400. Unbelievable really, you dont see that sort of thing very often in life anymore, but he told me he just wanted me to look my best. Im so happy with the new hair line, even tho I look a bit like frankenstein at the minute, and a red bloody head, I feel I look fantastic icon_smile.gif, Ill be sad to see the new hairs fall out, then I have to wait for their return, but for now I can see what I will look like, a little preview and I look how I should look again, and cant stop looking in the mirror for all the right reasons. No more worrying how my hair looks, constantly checking a reflection, wind + rain worries, feeling horrible, im completely changed so far and I havent worried once. Thanks to spex for helping me out, sorting all this and making it possible. I only have photos from 3/4 days after surgery, which are posted below. Im hoping spex can help me out with the photos from feller before and immediately after surgery. If anyones worried about doing the sights after surgery, its a breeze, had hat on whole time, no one could tell I had anything done and also I have felt no pain at all since surgery, including the same day and day after. I only took half a vicodin after surgery as a precaution, my donor just itches, thats all i've felt! top of the rock, horse and cart round central park, museums, restaurants, bars, shows clubs, you can do it all, you feel no different! (well I diddnt!) Thanks again, Ill post new photos over time

Andy08,

Thanks for the detailed account of your surgical experience with Dr. Feller. It looks like he's done an excellent job for you.

It's also very generous of him to give you 500 extra grafts for free. Make sure you take the good doc out to dinner or for drinks or something :-)

Best wishes,

Bill

Hey Andy

Ace write up , but put some paragraphs in it from time to time hahahaha makes it easier to read dude .

You look great and have the face and head shape to carry the buzzed look , you chose one of the best and have nothing to worry about , try to find something interesting to do for the next 12 months and prepare yourself for the long term result .

Far too many guys moan after after 4month and shit blah blah blah ......these hts are a long term goal and must be judged after 12 months , then again after 24 months .

Still , like I said your work and hairline design looks great and really suits you ,interesting that you told your girlfriend , not many do . My girl and I really enjoyed New York too , great place to have a proceedure and a holiday .

I look forward to your updates and good luck .

Good luck

Scar is healing up really nicely, my hair is buzzed to #2. Under 20 days from having procedure. I still have alot of graphs in, some have fell out though - is it normal to have this many 20 days after? Thanks again!

Andy08,

Great writeup, which is much appreciated and helpful to those new and looking for HT information. I'm also encouraged that both doctors recommended a conservative approach given your age. Thanks for the photos and hang in there during the 'doldrums':

- months 1-3 are just waiting for the new hair to even *start* to grow

- months 4-6 are the hairs growing at marginal rates each month

Then, you should start to really notice some key changes. Of course, you could be the desired fast grower that notices huge improvement by month 5, but just don't go in with that expectation.

All the best in the coming months and I look forward to seeing your progress.

Andy,

You can't resize the images on the forum. You have to edit the images using an image editor and then reupload them to "TinyPic" or whatever third party site you are using. Then the images won't appear as large on the forum.

Congratulations on your recent hair transplant by the way :-).

Best wishes,

Bill
