Thank you Maxxy for clarifying it for me. Ok so side effect only exist when you take drugs correct? For example if I start using Rogain foam and I notice shedding, as soon as I stop the shedding will stop right? Same thing for Propecia if I notice sexual potency as soon I stop the potency will go away?

It wont just switch off no, you will need to give both drugs time to get out your system.

But yes clinical studies suggest that is the case, however, some have claimed the side effects remained after stopping.

If this is the case I don't know, maybe it is all in their mind?

I truly appreciate every ones input and advice. Thank you Maxxy. I have a good chunk of hair left around my crown area and I don't want to loose, I just not sure what to try. Heh.

Maxxy I know you not a doctor and your opinion is just an opinion, but what would be your first step to try druggs? Would you try Rogain first?

Yes mate,

I think it would be the advice of everyone on this forum to try Proscar, Rogaine and maybe Nizoral before taking the step to have a transplant.

I am currently using all 3 and did for sometime before my transplant.

I would personally go on all 3 together. The problem with that is, you dont know which product is working (but hey, if you get good results - who cares?).

Rogaine is mainly thought to help grow hair and proscar to keep what you have got.

When I say together, I mean as part of a regime - not literally using all 3 at the same time of the day.

The Proscar you want is 1-1.25mg per day, depending on what form you buy it in.

You will need to put Rogaine on twice per day.

For Nizoral I apply the 1% version 3 times a week.

In Propecia and other generic forms it comes in 1mg doses.

Proscar comes in 5mg. People buy it to save money because you can cut it into 4 pieces. You're not going get exactly 1.25mg every day, but it's not that important to be exact.

Some people get a 5ml medicine syringe and dissolve the tablet in vodka or whiskey and take 1ml per day, storing the rest in cool place.

Shedding is seen as a good sign mate, if it's not to excessive then try ride it out. (the hair should come back stronger)

I buy Proscar and cut it into 4 pieces just to save money.

lol well, I don't actually cut it - I've become lazy over the years and just bite a chunk off every day, haha (not that I recommend that, of course ;p).

I'm not sure what CVS is, I'm from the UK.

I buy my Proscar, online from Unitedpharmacies. (Cheap and reliable)

My Rogaine, from Ebay USA as it's so expensive in the UK.

Nizoral, here you can buy it in any pharmacy, I'm not sure in the States.

Well with the foam as I said, I had a massive shed, an area with hair went totally bald, I stuck it out and the hair came however it shedded again soon after so I stopped using it. (all this was within 3 month)

With the Rogaine solution and Proscar, I didn't notice any shedding.

Minoxidil, the active ingredient is the same in both the foam and the solution forms. Both also contain 5% Minoxidil - the delivery system is different and for some reason people can react differently to the foam and the solution.
