transplant2024
Hey Hair Restoration community, Looking for surgeon recommendations based on my hair loss progression. Located in California, US but open to international travel for the right surgeon. Back in October, I had a hair consultation w/ Dr. William Rassman whose advice is popular on r/Tressless. He concluded that I have a Norwood Class 3 V pattern of hair loss and that my "donor supply is high both in numbers and quality." He strongly advised against a transplant (benefits outweigh risk in his opinion); however, having fought hairloss for several years already, I'm still keen on the transplant route. My stack consists of 1 mg fin + 2.5mg oral min per day. I switched from topical to oral min since speaking speaking w/ Dr. Rassman. My body has tolerated these medications quite well for several years. Although I can't pinpoint exactly when I started them, I first saw a derm late 2019 about hairloss and believe I started medication early-mid 2020. Since I'm not entirely bald where I'm losing hair, it does seem in part to be density restoration which I imagine can present challenges. Are there any surgeons you all would recommend for my hairloss pattern? Any feedback / advice is deeply appreciated!
Raphael84
Thanks for sharing your images and details. If I can ask your age, and also what is it that you are actually looking to achieve? Depending on your age, you look to have retained a good amount of hair, but the propensity and potential for further loss at some stage does appear to be present with the lesser density in your crown which can be seen in the contrast from lower crown to rear donor. Some retrograde may be present and showing a lesser density in the side donor. With your regimen of medication in place, you may well present a stable environment now. In your images, with the slightest more length on top, your hair looks pretty good and I wouldn't be rushing into any surgery quickly. Again, age depending it may be best to see how things play out over the next years. transplant2024
@Raphael84 Thanks so much for the response - I'm 28 years old. I'm hoping to bring back density and get back a fuller hairline. When light is shining on my head, the loss in density is quite evident - especially in contrast to the sides of my head. Based on my age + what I'm looking, do you have follow-up thoughts or doctor recommendations? Thanks again!
