My Hair Transplant Journey: Success or Setback?

Embarking on the path of a hair transplant can be an emotional rollercoaster. It's been four months and 23 days since my procedure, and the anticipation for results is both exciting and nerve-wracking. Like many others on the Hair Transplant Network, I've chosen to document my journey – not just for my own peace of mind but to seek the valuable opinions of a supportive community.

I'll share my experiences, both pre and post-transplant, through a series of photos. But I won't stop at just showcasing my progress; I want your input. The community here is known for its honest feedback and advice, which is precisely what I need right now.

Four months and 23 days seem like a long time, but i know patience is key in the world of hair transplants. While the doctors assure me that results can take up to a year to fully manifest, the anxiety still lingers. So, I invite you to join me on this journey and share your thoughts.

Before-and-after photos will be my canvas, and your comments will be the brushstrokes that help paint a clearer picture of my progress. Is my hair transplant a success or a setback? Your insights will go a long way in easing my concerns and guiding others who might be in a similar situation.

 

To be honest, I am genuinely disappointed seeing the results before and after in the pictures. I hadn't started so bad before the transplant, and after almost 5 months, I think I'm worse off than before. The hair transplant. I probably lost some of my original hairs too.

 

Just to give you guys a little bit more info, the surgeon said that he transplanted 1830 grafts. There were 320 something graphs singles that he transplanted in the front, and he was a bit conservative when designing the hairline. He wouldn't come down more, as you can see in the pictures. I actually had to persuade him to get to that point. We went back and forth many times just to get him to that point. What I do like is that my donor area is pretty good now. I'm quite satisfied. There aren't many visible scars, and it doesn't look depleted at all, even with a fade skin at the back.

 

I chose this clinic because the doctor himself was operating, and he was the one extracting and putting the holes in my recipient area. He was involved throughout the whole process and only saw me for that day. No other patients.

 As you can see after removing the scab it looks pretty good. I have a pretty good hair line and the hairs are dense and solid. I was pretty satisfied.

It’s barely 4 months. Impossible to call it a setback this early on.

Are you on meds? Sometimes HTs can cause real shock loss to the hairs that were already miniaturizing in the recipient area

Hey Melvin, Thanks for the reply, I agree with you still pretty early! but I just can't help but compare myself to others at my stage, the issue is, I think I look worse than when I started! even though I didn't start very bad to begin with, The other issue is! when I look at my hair, especially in the hairline area where I had some good hair after the 10-day hair transplant, now is almost nothing in there.

Like I said it's almost 5 months! and that's what concerns me the most! but I guess I will have to wait and see what it looks like after 1 year!

Yes! I'm on Oral Fin and topical 5% Min, been on Fin for almost 4 years! That helped a lot. I agree with you, sometimes shock loss can cause significant damage to surroundings! but I hope it's not permanent.

Far too early to make a call. I understand your anxieties it’s only natural but some don’t bloom until as long as months 7-8. It sounds like you’ve done your research when looking for Dr’s, trust the process 🙏🏼
