Aleksandr1995
hello everyone, are there people who took accutane during hair transplantation? I am taking 20 mg right now, I want to do a hair transplant, will they damage my grafts?
Regular Member Michael Vories, MD Posted July 20, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted July 20, 2023 Accutane can interfere with graft survival- so the recommendation is be off of it for 6 months prior to the procedure, and not take it again until the one year post-op mark when grafts have fully grown in. 1 Dr. Mike Vories is recommended on the Hair Transplant Network

Regular Member AhmadChaudhry Posted July 21, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted July 21, 2023 Hi, I agree that one should not go for hair transplant while taking accutane. There are three possible consequences 1- Graft survival 2- Collagen and fibrin structural changes so formation of Keloid is possible 3- If you will take accutane regularly after one year , i have seen many people where hair starts shedding and thinning. 6 months to 12 months is the minimum interval, free from Accutane before undergoing hair restoration surgery. Senior Member HappyMan2021 Posted July 21, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted July 21, 2023 Accutane is pretty hardcore....I guess I'm lucky I took it when I was 16 when I did not even know what Male Pattern Baldness was 🤣 As others are saying, this is a pretty black and white issue. Dont even think about a hair transplant until you are off the accutane regime and its completely out of your system
Senior Member gillenator Posted July 21, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted July 21, 2023 I could not agree more, Accutane and Hts are incompatible.
