Regular Member consequence Posted June 2, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted June 2, 2023 I will be flying long distance home 6-7 days after my transplant surgery. For those of you who did this, how did you protect your grafts and donor area on the flight home? I have read not to wear a hat/cap for the first two weeks though as it seems with most things regarding post op care the recs for this vary dramatically between different surgeons. Regular Member MAL87 Posted June 2, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted June 2, 2023 You can wear something like a loose fitting hat or a bandana almost immediately after, so long as it's not coming in contact with the recipient area. Clinics will also usually provide a surgical cap for immediate use. But after 10 days you can wear just about anything, as that's when the grafts are secured. Regular Member Turkhair Posted June 2, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted June 2, 2023 I didn’t wear anything on the flight back home week after HT . Nobody cared. HTs are so common these days.

I have an 11 hour non stop flight, so probably will doze off and let my head drift to the side at some point whether or not I want to do so.
