Seeking SF BayArea HT surgeon recommendation

Recommended Posts

I'm a Norwood 2-3 and had a consultation with Dr. Diep last year for a hair transplant procedure. However, due to recent negative reviews, I had to cancel my appointment.

I'm now searching for a reputable hair transplant doctor in San Francisco Bay Area and would appreciate any recommendations. Thank you.

There aren't great doctors in the Bay Area, I'm afraid. Is there a reason you want to limit your search there? Hopefully it's more than just being a local.

There's a few excellent doctors just a short flight away. I'm sure folks will provide depending on how far you're willing to fly out.

Of course. It depends on your Norwood level, budget, wait-time willingness, preferred method (FUT vs FUE), age and if you are on medication. I can narrow the below depending on the above. There's of course more, but these come to mind first.

In North America, Konior/Nadimi, H&W, Gabel, Shapiro are all exceptional doctors.

In Europe, you've got Couto, Zarev, Bisanga, Mwamba, Hattingen, Ferudini, Pinto

Rest of World there's Pitella, Eugenix, Pekiner, Bicer, Leal, etc.

Awesome. My Norwood level is 2-3, I am not any medication, have no budget constraints. Dr Diep had recommended 2800 grafts FUT/FUE, I prefer FUE.
As for wait-time, as I had to cancel my appointment with Dr Diep after waiting for 6 months, I am looking to schedule my procedure as soon as possible with a reputable doctor. Thanks for the above recommendation,  I will check doctors in the NA to see if anyone fits my need.

Could you recommend any other reputable hair transplant specialists based on my requirements? Thank you.

Don't think you can go wrong with any of them, but personally I think Nadimi or H&W might be your best bet. Konior is great, but I'm not certain he's taking new patients (and the wait time is likely 1 year+ for a new patient in any case). Think any inquiries to his clinic go to directly Nadimi (wonderful as well) - I think her wait times are less than a year. Same deal with H&W.

I am not familiar with Gabel or Shapiro's wait-times.

If you're younger, I'd say go with Nadimi; she's more conservative and will preserve your grafts, which is important given no medication. I haven't seen a case where she uses 3,000 or more grafts (it's usually 1,500 - 2,500), but she makes 2,000 grafts look like 3,000. H&W can do a higher graft count (3,000+), so if you want to get it over with (e.g. your older / less concerned about future loss or want to get as much done in a single go), I'd say they are better in that case (they are brilliant in larger sessions). Look at the hairlines and see what you prefer between the two, as each has a different style. Between H&W, I prefer Wong from an ethical perspective.

Good luck mate!

Takes a ton of discipline to wait an agonizing 6 months and then cancel, but you made the right decision cancelling on Diep.

Doing nothing at all, or extending your HT journey longer than youd like, are both still 1000x better than having to deal with a botched result.

Props to you for making a very wise decision. If you are seeking a very good surgeon at a low cost that is relatively close, check out Dr. Nader. He's located in Mexico, but apparently people put up in a hotel in Texas and his staff drives you back and forth over the border.

I’m from the Bay Area as well and yes like the other posters there aren’t any reputable HT surgeons in the bay don’t let location stop you from going I am a Norwood 2-3 aswell and after years of research decided to get on meds first and finally got my HT in Belgium in Nov don’t let location stop you of course have a decent budget as I spent almost 10k for it, like the poster above dr Nader is a good option in Mexico I like his work there are lots of great surgeons though so while you wait for the fin to start doing it’s magic start researching this forum
