They might see weak areas that may need to also be addressed. Makes it easier for the doctors/techs to work within the existing hair. if it's easier, it's easier to do a good job. Possible increased risk of infection. A shaved head will be easier to keep clean and allow the wounds to breath. Part shaves can look odd (I understand this is only a touch up).
