Regular Member hairlines Posted December 26, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted December 26, 2022 Can anyone comment on the pros and cons of having a combination of FUT and FUE done at the same time? Does anyone have good experiences to share? I will need a lot done so want to get the most from the donor area and do want to try and minimise travel as I'll need to be out of country to do it. Thanks For example:
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted December 26, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted December 26, 2022 FUT and FUE combo suergies seem most popular in high Norwood cases by a few doctors. Dr Sonni is one of them. 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Regular Member Pbaird98 Posted December 26, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) Good way to maximise/fully utilise the donor area in one procedure, instead of the usual max out on FUT and then proceed to FUE. Dr Bisanga is another that is capable in doing these combos, and sometimes even FUT/FUE/BHT, much like Dr Soni. Don’t even think about FUT If you wanted to have you’re hair particularly short though, or ever plan too. As @Gatsbymentioned they are definitely a option for the higher Norwood levels. Regular Member hairlines Posted December 27, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted December 27, 2022 Thank you for the thoughts. I'm relatively high on the norwood scale, with goals to have longer hair, and expecting to want more than one round of transplants. Thread linked below. A combination wont prevent future work being done as well I presume?

Rahal Hair Transplant
@hairlines, Typically those with exceptionally high Norwood levels who are attempting to maximize the amount of available donor Hair may undergo FUT first until they “strip out” followed by FUE as many times as they can to maximize the amount of hair for transplanting while minimizing the appearance of scarring. In theory, this process can work well as long as you’ve selected the right surgeons. Just keep in mind that FUT and FUE are two very different procedures and in my opinion, because of the complexity of FUE, in order to get it done right, it’s important to select an FUE specialist with a proven track record of producing outstanding results with FUE. I hope this helps. Rahal Hair Transplant Rahal Hair Transplant Institute - Answers to questions, posts or any comments from this account should not be taken or construed as medical advice.
