Regular Member Luisgarciaisgod Posted October 12, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted October 12, 2022 Background. I'm a 35 year old male. My hair started receding when I was around 23 but it was when I was around 29 my crown started to go so I started shaving it. Unlike many it didn't really bother me, I've a fat head and call pull it off shaved. In March 2020 I won a few quid on the horses so I went in for a consultation with MHR Clinic in Dublin. I'd didn't shop around and just went in, had the consultation and was quoted €3500 for 3000 "hairs". Being a newbie I didn't know the differences between hairs and grafts. Had the op in June 2020 and straight away as soon as I'd came home I'd realized there wasn't near enough hairs to cover my crown, such to the extent that I started shaving my head 1 month after the operation. I'd already relayed my concerns to the clinic manager and she just said to give it time, and if it didn't work out we would have another operation and she would give me a reduced rate. I never responded to her again never even went for the 6 or 12 month checkups I'd didn't want to go abroad for this tbh, can't put a price on being in your own bed after a few days and my worry would be if something went wrong, could I just jump on the next plane? Ireland isn't great for this, there's only really 2 respectable options. Dr Andre Nel from HSW Clinic and Blackrock Clinic. Blackrock are too expensive (€10 a graft) so I went and booked a consultation with Andre Nel in April 2021 It was a 3 month wait for a consultation but I finally met Andre, he's such a professional that I'm surprised he's not more well known. My hairline is fine but my crown is bare. He was straight up with me, my donor area was weak but with a combo of FUT/FUE harvesting and some SMP in 6 months time to add desnity to the crown, hairline and to cover up the FUT down the line I could have a decent set of hair provided I go on Fin and Loniten for 9 months. Went back in November 2021 and decided to book a op for March 2022 (cancelled to due a stag), May 2022 (cancelled due to me starting a new job and then October. The Op So went in on Tuesday evening as Dr Nel likes to do his incisions the evening before, was there from 7pm to about 10pm. Was just Andre on his own doing this. He then picked me up from the hotel this morning at 7am and we probably began around 7.30ish. I'm a excessive bleeder and I told this to Andre so I know it made his job hander when doing this extractions. He did the FUT strip first and then the FUE. There was 4 people there in the room altogether but Andre did the majority of the work. It was a long day and finally finished up about 8.30pm. Below I've a normal picture of me, picture of me shaving directly before the operation and picture directly after the op. I'll share more phots tomorrow when bandages are taken off. Senior Member hairman22 Posted October 13, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted October 13, 2022 I never heard of a surgeon doing the incisions the night before. Then placing grafts the day after
Regular Member Luisgarciaisgod Posted October 13, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 13, 2022 Yes Dr Nel does this to as too much work in one day can cause trauma to the scalp area so he likes to make the incisions the night before. Got cleaned up and had bandages taken off so can show a picture of the FUT line also.
Regular Member Luisgarciaisgod Posted October 15, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 15, 2022 Hey guys so day 3 and I've already bumped my head coming out of the car but im hoping it doesn't do too much damage. You can see the dried blood right at the front of where the graphs were put in. I've noticed some yellowy discolourment above the FUT scar below, is this just scabs or should i be worried? Regular Member Luisgarciaisgod Posted October 18, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 18, 2022 Day 6 and when washing my recipient area with baby shampoo I've had some hairs come out with scabs attached. Should I be worried? I hadn't expected shedding to happen for a another few weeks?
Regular Member Luisgarciaisgod Posted November 6, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted November 6, 2022 Hi guys so little update. 26 days since I've had my HT. On day 7 I woke up in a right tizzy because I'd picked at the scabs in my sleep, obviously the irritation had got to me. Woke up to lots of scabs with hairs in them. I was so worried that I'd messed everything up. Had my check up on day10 and Dr Nel told me everything was fine and the reality was that by day 7, most grafts had realistically already set. Right now I feel like I've lost all my transplanted hair plus some shock loss. Booked my SMP for April to add density. the next month or two is gonna be rough. Getting SMP at the end of this month to add some density Smp is a great option to create an illusion of density specially for crown...even am thinking about that after my surgery Check Out My Hair Transplant Journey --> My Thread 3611 FUE Grafts With Dr Kongkiat Laorwong | Norwood 5 | 2nd May 2023
Regular Member Luisgarciaisgod Posted May 19, 2023 Author Regular Member Share Posted May 19, 2023 Hi guys, so I'm about 7 months in and had my SMP session. Things are starting to happen and I think I might be a bit of a slower grower as it took my hairline over a year to fully grow in.

Regular Member Luisgarciaisgod Posted June 1, 2023 Author Regular Member Share Posted June 1, 2023 (edited) So I feel like things are starting to happen. I'm a slow grower (as i'll show below from my first transplant with my hairline) so wasn't panicing this amount around about lack of growth. First three photos are from today and the other is an Instargram screenshot (sorry I'm not a prolific photo taker) from June 2021, nearly a year after I got my first H/T done on my hairline. Not sure why the photos are sidewards also, apologies. Edited June 1, 2023 by Luisgarciaisgod
