In 4 days I will be 3 months post operation. As some of you may know, numbness can stick around after a transplant for a few months. Almost all of my numb areas disappeared in the first two months but a certain spot on my crown is almost done getting rid of the last bit of numbness, and along with it some last little bit of itching. In the next few weeks I have no doubt that will all finally be gone. There are a few pimples I have on the crown, and that’s the only place I have had them. There is some redness remaining but not much. That too will disappear soon. I still have shock loss and it was pretty embarrassing for the first two months when the hair was shorter. You could see daylight through my scalp. My hair is longer now so it covers it up somewhat but my sides and back are still very thin. I can tell by running my fingers through it. I am not worried because it will come back and it happens with even the best of surgeons. No surgeon can control how your body will react to a surgery. It’s just whatever your body wants to do. I would say I’m past the ugly duckling phase. I’m really looking forward to the time between now and Christmas as it might be when I’d get my first new hairs coming in! Overall, I’m very happy with choosing Dr. Bicer, and my posts going forward should be more exciting from here on out since there will be growth and more healing to report.

Thanks @j1000, I am always confused when people get hair cuts in the first 3 months of the transplant because it tends to make it more obvious than just having longer (allbeit shaggy) hair. how is the redness coming along? would love to see some photos

I agree, just let it grow on its own for a few months. Just posted some pictures.

To cover up the donor redness and fresh scars I guess people go for the "shaggy" look on the sides/back as well. I would prefer to cut everything short until after the ugly duckling phase tbh, I'm (still) a hat guy anyways. Always wondered if that's okay to do as I never see anyone with a short cut on the transplanted area when in the phase of losing the transplanted hair.

I would ask the doctor when it is ok to get your first haircut. I could certainly get a haircut if I wanted to, but with my temporary shock-loss it would show daylight in my scalp and also my strip scar from my first surgery. My shaggy look (which isn’t even shaggy honestly) is far better looking than a haircut. I have the luxury of wearing a hat too but for times like church and stuff I can’t / won’t wear one.

Looking good should be all growing from here! I'm also in the US and am considering Dr. Bicer among others, just trying to evaluate the travel logistics and time to allot around the day of the surgery. Your experience thus far speaks volumes in her favor.

Appreciate that. Holler at me if you have any questions.

I am a little early, but in 3 days I will be exactly 4 months post operation. There is still some sensitivity / irritation on one tiny section of my crown, but I’m not worried. Everywhere else that was transplanted had it too and it went away, this is just the last section to do so. I do not have any new transplanted hair coming in in my hairline or crown yet although if I look very very closely in the mirror I can see a hair or two coming in. I continue to have the same level of temporary shock loss in my donor area. You may not be able to tell but I can, plus when I run my fingers through it it is still very thin. But I am not worried. Dr. Bicer said it would come back around the 6 month mark, maybe sooner. I’m not mad or angry that I take a little longer to heal and grow. If anything, I have a good reward waiting for me soon when my new hairs grow and my donor shock loss heals fully. Dr Bicer continues to be very involved and helpful post operation. I took these pictures in very bright and harsh light. Thanks for checking in on my post, everyone. 81514B99-391D-4656-A724-26FF094D03B8.thumb.jpeg.39ba9318cde256c26828329e0522974f.jpeg64819C66-DBA8-4D37-A5C0-6DCBA074B272.thumb.jpeg.17f318dcd740c0e2ba020703a966b8f8.jpeg1A4EB906-0628-499E-AB41-90872427E1CC.thumb.jpeg.0a63f8d525be15f56d3e141607f53eed.jpeg43DCE8DE-9054-4DFB-964A-12308A7100DA.thumb.jpeg.26800d748e902c5c844e247ce8219fe9.jpegADBE0EF7-2E5F-415C-9FCE-4E20671D8AC9.thumb.jpeg.7e622873b114c2125ff5a20f3b268f77.jpeg1129148E-4F2D-4CFE-ABAC-F56D726ED180.thumb.jpeg.9498101bcfc3d9def8482c22fde73efc.jpeg

My 5 month update. Not much progress yet, but I definitely do have hair growing in. For most of my photos, I take them in pretty bright light, which I’m not sure if that is a good idea or not. I hope to learn to take better pictures for the coming months. I still have temporary shock loss on my donor area, but I am not worried. Dr. Bicer said it would start coming back to normal at about 6 months. I look forward to the remaining 7 months of growth. As with most things in life for me, I’m a late bloomer and I expect no different with hair haha.46ECF28A-1BC5-482D-A714-CB76BAF7652A.thumb.jpeg.066b9d7b3cea463951b7605464865d29.jpeg2F931356-5E08-44F1-8A2F-42D9D5C64AF9.thumb.jpeg.857bd43c3dc0e40d2a60acb95b61611c.jpeg101138DC-15E3-4D75-8431-DD6E756ADF97.thumb.jpeg.11204ee700a30c3990f204a56a358cea.jpegA15B2BCF-0249-4B9C-BB25-24641F6651AC.thumb.jpeg.d00b464c08560cefdff8f918b16117b0.jpegD50CBD06-AB57-4741-9625-8E9DC3081B58.thumb.jpeg.705af257b4b7e50d062ade4ba4287ede.jpeg4A6477BA-F07B-40D4-BA2F-8EBEE11E581D.thumb.jpeg.6fd73d591d95c2f7133e88fa39dd5c44.jpegB656BCFC-809B-44F4-B9BC-F499C21FEE5D.thumb.jpeg.e482735397beab547518a7372d95946b.jpeg

I think definitely some progress between month 4 and 5. The next 2 months should be exciting :)

Just wondering how much do you still communicate with Dr. Bicer? I personally haven't talked to them in 2 months mostly because I don't really have any questions. I send them a monthly picture update but that's about it.

I send her an update every month with pictures and if I have any issues, which I don’t normally except for itching and numbness in the first few months. I’ll be curious to see your results!

@j1000 for only just hitting five months you have many months ahead of you. The coverage is starting to take place and the results look excellent. I think from month six onwards this is going to be a great result. 👌

Thanks! It actually looks a little fuller than it does in pictures. Stay tuned!

nice progress mate. would be good if you could include some natural light shots e.g. near a window during the day, so we can see how it looks in that scenario. harsh light often makes the density look less than it is

I’ll remember to do that for next month. To be honest, natural light also makes it look like these pics but I will do so anyway.

A picture with natural light for those who were asking. See you again in month 6. If you refer back to my post-op photos, my crown was quite a large area to cover but I’m sure my results will be pretty decent.

Dr Bicer is on of the few recommended in Turkey. It looks like crown started to grow, we will se how it will improve in 2-3 months.

Could you provide some side pictures?

Happy growing :D

I’ll be sure to do that for my 6 month update coming up in a couple weeks.

I am at 6 months now. So far, I’m very happy with my hairline. The grafts Dr. Bicer added to my hairline have made a big difference from the first transplant I had with Dr. Bradley Wolf. Hypothetically, even if my hairline stopped growing any new hair today, I would still be happy with it. But there’s still 6 more months or so of growth! So I am very excited about my new hairline. It looks very, very natural…and as I said, still more months of growth to come. I’m not sure what to think of my crown. I don’t expect complete coverage at the end of it all, but I do hope to see a lot less skin when all is finished. So we will see what happens.

I continue to have the temporary shock loss in my complete donor area. I am not worried, as Dr. Bicer said it might take 6 months for it to start to come back. And that’s where I am now. So hopefully by the next update at month 7 there will be some improvement.

My pictures remind me of why I want some temple points so so badly next time and for the hairline to be “curved” at the end of it to transition to the temples.

What do you guys think so far? Be honest. Thanks!
