haircut

I just got my haircut. I had the back of my head buzzed with a 5 and the top with a 3 and a half. Bottom line is that both of my scars are VERY VERY noticeble. One scar has grafts transplanted into it. The other is about 10 weeks and is already about 3 mm wide; however, its still about half of the width of my original NHI scar.

I have used Mederma every day for 10 weeks. I have taken my nutrients. I have grown a big fat ass because I have resisted exercise and lifting weights (for 10 weeks) and still I have a scar that is much wider than I had hoped.

Does anyone have any ideas? icon_cool.gif

Big 1,

Sorry to hear of your anguish but yes there is some hope. And by the way, you'll be able to take the weight back off right?

Some patients tend to scar more than others. From getting to know you on this forum, I gather you have done alot of homework and chose a good HT doctor for the last procedure? It also is a little early to judge the total outcome of the second scar. Could not the surgeon from your most recent procedure do a scar revision? Did you lack scalp laxity or did the doctor feel a revision could have come out worse? Is the scar raised? Mederma is a very good product for scars, post-operatively speaking.

Give the recent scar at least one year to heal. If there is still no improvement, consider FUSE,FIT,FUE technology to implant into the scar, but start with a "test" session. The composite of the scar material varies patient-to-patient and so does blood supply in the scar area.

Regardless, I think there is room for improvement for you so keep us in the loop! Take care. icon_smile.gif

Your doing all the right things-- 10 weeks, you can now start excercing and lifting weights-- moderate weight lifting until 3 month period. As far as your 3mm scar, well sounds like you had a little stretching post op ,but 3mm is that bad. When using Mederma, you should apply it 3 times a day for 3 months on new scars which you have--not just once a day. THis should help-- it did me.

Big1 - that's too bad about your scar. It sounds to me like you might be one of those rare guys whose scars don't heal normally. Do you have a history of big scars on other parts of your body? Some doctors recommend no heavy lifting for up to 6 months, so maybe those docs are on to something. Hopefully the stretching has ceased at this point
