Regular Member Bluelagoon Posted August 21, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted August 21, 2021 If you've had a hair transplant, have you got rapid greying afterwards, and did it go away? I have consulted hair transplant surgeons about this, and the answer is the hair cells might go into some sort of shock due to the transplant, and it greys and then it reverts to the ordinary color. But does it? If you've had a hair transplant, did you experience greying? And if so, did it revert to the original color afterwards?
Senior Member BDK081522 Posted August 21, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted August 21, 2021 My experience has actually been the opposite. Overall my hair has gotten darker because the relocated follicles are darker than surrounding hair. So, having some mixed in native graying has been diluted out by the new darker hair. 1 Bosley 11-2016 FUE - 1,407 grafts Dr. Diep 09-2017 FUE - 2,024 grafts Dr. Konior 03-2020 FUE - 2,076 grafts Dr. Konior 09-2021 FUE - 697 scalp to scalp, FUE - 716 beard to beard Total scalp FUE - 6,204 grafts
Regular Member Bluelagoon Posted August 21, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 21, 2021 Thanks for weighing in! And that's encouraging! If anyone else has done a HT, please do tell whether you experienced rapid greying, or whether or not it went away.

However I do remember it happening to Wayne Rooney ! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2026893/Wayne-Rooney-hair-transplant-Doctors-say-going-grey-common-effect.html

Senior Member A Fue Good Men Posted August 22, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted August 22, 2021 There’s a phenomenon where transplanted hair gains pigment, I’ve never heard it the way you’re describing. Some doctors believe it’s from a new blood supply triggering a change in the follicles.
Regular Member Bluelagoon Posted August 23, 2021 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 23, 2021 Interesting, 5BetaReductase! And thanks for weighing in! It's good to see so few having experiences such graying, or know of it, but if someone has experienced it, or know of it, please let us know.
