Starting Finasteride + Future HT

Hey,

So I decided to face my longtime insecurity, I am 22 years old, my dad (56y.o.) is NW6 and my brother who is 3years older than me has thin hair and very receded corners (started noticing his hairloss around my age). So you can say genetic alopecia runs in my family.

Right now I have a very big forehead, a little bit receded corners and lower density in my corners but still a lot of hair so it is not that hard to camouflage.

My dad and brother have straight darker hair. I have kinda dirty blonde and very curly hair which I got from mums side. Posting more hair pics one from my long hair era and one from my elementary school where you can see my hairline was never perfect) so you can imagine better.

I deciced to jump on FINASTERIDE to prevent any further hairloss (starting next week maybe 1mg/Day) and also thinking about getting FUT in the future (in one or two years maybe) to lower my hairline and bring the temples a little bit closer... to get more natural look that would define my face.

Please let me know what u think: Am I a good candidate? Should I do anything else to prevent hairloss? Is my donor area good enough?Thought about getting fut with Dr. Bloxham, How many grafts ? My idea was around 2700-3000 grafts. Would love to be able to slick my hair back or brush it up (can not do it right now because the size of my forehead)

Thank you for your replies guys!

Good call on the Fin. I'm 25 and I was in the same boat and I had a transplant done. Your NW level isn't bad, its definitely receeding and a transplant in the future would be beneficial (age 25+). In terms of hairline, most transplant surgeons wouldn't go very much lower than what you currently have because it would look unnatural when you're a bit older. To me you look like you're a good candidate because it seems you have wavy hair with good donor density and decent scalp contrast making the appearance of transplanted density a whole lot easier. You have plenty of options. Just try not to expect to have "perfect" hairline because its just really not realistic for us younger folk, we won't have the same perfect hairline as many of our peers. But when we are in our 30s onward we will probably have better hair 😃

Good luck whatever you choose,

Finasteride, Minoxidil, maybe Microneedling, Nizoral, Alfatradiol are all some options you can use to hair prevent loss and even grow new hair!

Thank you for the response, I will definitely do my best to postpone my HT and keep most of my hair ! In terms of HT I also would not go much lower - I would just fix my hairline.
