Considering Doctor

Hi Y'all, first time post long time lurker. Narrowing down docs is tough. One doc I keep coming back to is Dr. Cooley. He has good results and been in the game for a long time. I've seen solid results, such as Merlin and GrowingHair's transplants but also results that don't add up like the one from a uklad81. I also notice numerous posters speaking highly of him in various posts, but leave out photos or don't continue their updates. Sad, I wish everyone would continue to update their progress if they start but understand life sometimes intervenes. Does Cooley do all the implants, or leave it to the tech? If anyone has any intel good, bad or otherwise I'd appreciate it. It helps out! Feel free to PM me if you are more comfortable.

Dr Cooleys techs do place the grafts. Which other Drs/Clinics are you looking at? It really is tough on choosing. The more we research the more options we have.
@firstFUT is a more recent one to follow. Personally I have always liked Dr Cooleys work. And yes I remember the uKlad81 case. I wouldn’t let that put you off too much though.

Thank you, John. I assume Dr Cooley makes the incisions for the grafts and the techs place the grafts? Is he there the entire time?

I was looking at at this board's favorites and it seems Dr Konior does quality work, but most report his prices are on a whole other level as well as his wait list. Dr. Bloxham has some nice results too, but Cooley is closest to me as I live in GA. They say don't choose a surgeon based on location, but Cooley may be an exception? Also, I am keeping a close eye on @firstFUT results, hoping they are great!

This whole tech placing the grafts is not even an issue. I don't know why it's coming up now. One poorly-educated member came here and started complaining about techs placing the grafts, when this has been standard practice for some of the worlds best clinics for decades. I suggest you join me tomorrow when I discuss this in detail with Dr. Lindsey, a well respected and highly-esteemed physician.

As for Cooley, he's as elite as they come check out @HTREGRETS a guy who came here wishing he never had a hair transplant, and left with some of the best results I've seen on a repair patient. In my opinion, a well-trained technician can place the grafts without any issues. The extraction will determine the health of the grafts, the incisions will determine the direction, angle and density of the hair transplant. Those are the most important aspects. If you have a surgeon who performs those two critical aspects, and has a team of technicians who've been with him for years. You have no worries.

I don’t know of you have seen it, but there is a really good top 5 FUE/FUT Drs thread.
For me I would always have Hasson + Wong, Konior and Bisanga for my top 3 FUE.

Agreed that Dr Bloxham is doing some really good work too. A recent FUT case showcases this.

Hi,

I had surgery with Dr. Cooley 6/10/20 and would highly recommend him.  He was a good fit for me for several reasons, but one important reason was that he is personally  involved in most of the surgery and his techs are very experienced.

His lead tech has been with him for well over 10 years and she and Dr. Cooley work in concert for most of the procedure.  A second tech also helped implanting grafts at one point and she has also been with him for well over 10 years.

I think if you choose a surgeon who you trust (I also wanted one who had a fairly high level of personal involvement in the case) with an experienced staff, you are off to a good start.  Exactly who does what seems less important to me since I am not an expert like they are.

Dr. Cooley's office kept me at ease throughout the entire procedure.

Thank you, Melvin. It helps to know many of the world's best clinics have their techs placing grafts. Cooley seems top-notch. It's hard to find a bad result of his, most are positive and that gives me reassurance, not to mention his FUT scars are equally impressive.

@firstFUT Thank you for your write up and continual updates. I've seen many of Cooley patients as of recent post positive write ups and then disappear. I guess it's nice to know their experience was great, however pictures and ongoing progress reports does a lot for the community and prospective customers seeking reassurance when deciding if this Dr. is the right Dr. or to choose another surgeon.
