BullHair
Hello Everyone, Some time ago I was working with a Surgeon on a potential restoration. During our pre-op discussions I mentioned that I take a very low dose of Methotrexate (0.9mg per week) for a chronic eye condition I have and he said I had to discontinue use for at least 6 weeks prior and for a year after transplant. I appreciated the honesty he provided and since then did not attempt to move forward with restoration until discussing with my Rheumotologist about how to work through this potentially. I was wondering if any other physicians could provide guidance if they have had patients before who took immunosuppresants and issues/successes they have had with them and more so on what impact methotrexate/immunosupresants have on hair transplant more for a curiosity side of things? I imagine it has to do with how methotrexate impacts folic acid and then subsequently that impacting hair growth but I am not a medical expert to say definitively! Thanks!
