Issues with FUT scar - would appreciate advice

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Long time lurker on these forums, first time poster. I underwent an FUT procedure 5 months ago with transplantation of around 2440 grafts. Since the procedure, the left side of the linear scar on the back of my head appears to be healing nicely. I have had issues with the right side, however. Firstly, I experienced some shock loss on the right side, around the scar itself. Secondly, I have had recurrent folliculitis in this area. I assumed this was just a normal part of the healing process and would go away, however, I looked in the mirror today and I noticed that a significant area on the ride side of my scar appears inflamed. This area is also tender to touch.

I was wondering if anyone had experienced this before, or had any advice about what to do here? I have contacted my surgeon and sent him photos of the area. I have attached this photos too - they show the right side (where the problem area is) and the left side for comparison (which appears to healing nicely).

I would be very grateful for your advice!

I agree that this isn't normal. What has your doctor said?

While it isn't normal, it also isn't outside of the range of issues that can occur and should be something that will calm down over time and cease to be a problem.
