Senior Member HairHope Posted February 20, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 20, 2009 My last HT, was strip and I used the 5% alcohol based. Any updated suggestions now that the foam is available. Much appreciated! Bill - Seemiller
Hairhope, Each clinic will give you a varying answer on this. I still think it's best to wait at least until the scabbing/crusting is gone before applications to allow the recipient area to properly heal. You may want to check with your clinic to get their opinion on this. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member HairHope Posted February 21, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted February 21, 2009 Thanks Bill for your Reply. Let me clarify, can I use rogaine foam on the NON-transplanted area (my crown) within a few days of my transplant (which was in my front third of the head. Any thoughts anyone? Docs? Regular Member FollicularlyChallengedScar Posted February 22, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted February 22, 2009 Good question HairHope. I was told that I could use it immediately after surgery in the crown and mid-scalp areas (non-transplanted areas), but I too am worried about diffusion of the Minoxidil down to the the grafted areas in the front or hairline area! Any thoughts? Is crown and mid-scalp area use safe immediately afer surgery?
Senior Member HairHope Posted February 22, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks FCSM! I think that seems reasonable and is what I started applying, I think they worry more about the chemicals in the foam rather than the minoxidil itself - thus I am staying away from the area directly for a week but applyin in the crown. How many did you have? I had 1938 grafts for my first time and 1002 FUE this time. Regular Member FollicularlyChallengedScar Posted February 25, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted February 25, 2009 So, does anyone think it would be unsafe and damaging for the frontal recipient area to resume using Rogaine Foam in the mid-scalp and crown areas seven (7) days post-op?
