At 23 I began using rogaine and at 24, finasteride. My hair loss has been stable and I think I have about the same hair I did at 22. I contacted Dr. Resul Yaman's clinic via email and was in touch with Fikret. We were in contact for a few weeks where he answered all of my questions within a day or two. He said that based on my pictures Dr. Yaman recommended around 3500 grafts. I made the decision to book the procedure on April 1. Once the date was set, Fikret asked me to forward flight info so he could book the hotel for my stay. The hotel is included in the package. Day 1 I arrived in Istanbul the day before the procedure. The clinic arranged for a driver to pick me up at the airport- although I mistakenly took the hotel shuttle. After checking in the hotel, the driver picked me up and took me to the clinic for evaluations and blood work. The clinic was about 5 min from the hotel. Once arriving at the clinic, I met Fikret and Dr. Yaman. Dr. Yaman analyzed my donor area, drew a preliminary hairline, and estimated the number of grafts needed. Fortunately I was a good enough candidate for a hair transplant with density was around 0.7. After calculations were made, I walked downstairs to do the blood work. A sample of my blood was taken and analyzed. Then the PRP was administered. After the PRP I was free to go back to the hotel. Day 2 The driver picked me up at 11am for my surgery. He showed up promptly and I returned to the clinic. During the prep I got one last look at my hair before it was shaved down. Dr. Yaman measured my forehead and drew the hairline. Anesthesia was administered and shortly thereafter Dr. Yaman did the incisions followed by the extractions. His clinic does 2 sessions of extractions- a morning and an afternoon. This cuts down the time that the grafts are outside the body. After the extractions, the technicians did the implantations. This took a few hours, however, Fikret would always check up on me to see if I needed anything. Once the morning session was over, they brought me lunch, I had quick break, then part two of the surgery. Normally, the afternoon session is shorter, however mine took another 5 hours. I was hoping there had not been any complications that caused it take longer, but they assured that sometimes for a number of reasons it can just take a bit longer. Part of it was the thickness of skin and the fact that I had to take 10min break for wimping out and getting lightheaded after an IV. Once I saw the work it looked good and I no longer had concern The afternoon session lasted until about 9:30pm- and this a point of emphasis I want to make. It was 9:30 pm on a Friday and not once did I get a sense that Doctor Yaman or the technicians were just ready to be finished. There were two (and sometimes 3) technicians working together and inspecting each others’ work to make sure the job was done properly. They do care about the work and there really is a lot of effort that goes into this. Once the implantations were completed, I was bandaged up, given some medication with instructions, driven back to the hotel. I did not sleep much that night, but I kind of expected that. Day 3 Normally they take off the bandages on the third day and do the first wash on the 4th, however, because some early Sunday flights, we a did morning bandage removal and the wash that night. That night, I had my first post-op wash where proper washing was demonstrated and all shampoos and lotions were given. Pictures were taken and then all final questions regarding post-op were answered by the clinic. Payment was made (I paid in cash) and we gave our thanks and said our goodbyes. Overall, I was happy with the experience. They really try to make you as comfortable as possible during a long, uncomfortable day. Dr. Yaman is very friendly and his staff are very personable. While more independent reviews of Dr. Yaman are beginning to show up on this site, I wanted to add another share my positive experience with the clinic so far. Obviously what matters most is the result, which will not be for a while. I will try to add post-op pics as well and keep the forum reasonably updated every few months. JimmyBear Posted May 19, 2016 Author Share Posted May 19, 2016 This is 10 days post op. Right now I am almost at 7 weeks post-op. Everything post surgery has gone well. By the two week mark all scabs had fallen off and the redness had faded. I was surprised how quickly the redness subsided given that I have very fair skin. Around day 5 I got slight headaches but nothing a few advil could not take care of. The donor hair has been also been healing well. At week 5 I trimmed my donor region with a number one guard and you really can't tell that I've had work done. Most of the transplanted hair has fallen out although some has remained on the hairline. Everything has gone well so far and hopefully things will continue to go well during the next few months when the hair slowly begins to grow. You probably know alot more than me about it since I have had 3 hair transplants. You determine what the value of your hair is, for me it is 17k for a specialist because I can afford it. You spend what you want and can afford but a word of wisdom, you get what you pay for and dont be cheap. 1. you should go with cheaper doctors if the quality is the same. 2. My point was that there are many doctors who can do hair transplantation and the cost of such operation should not be high ,and i know for a fact that lets say turkish doctors perform hair transplantation on the same level as US doctors or higher ,but charge 2x ,3x less and that is a fact also Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Maybe Turkish doctors are cheaper, but factor in a round way trip and hotel expenses along with a complicated travel plan, it would even out. Thats usually why turkish doctors are cheaper. If you can tell me a FUE doctor has consistently put out great results with before and after videos (NOT PICTURES ONLY), I would love to know about them compared to DR. Diep in California. JimmyBear Posted October 15, 2016 Author Share Posted October 15, 2016 This is around the 6 1/2 month mark. Overall, I'm really happy with the progress I've made so far. There is a lot more body to my hair that I have not had in very long time. I think the hairline looks great and I'm looking forward to watching the implanted hairs continue to mature during the next few months. JimmyBear Posted October 16, 2016 Author Share Posted October 16, 2016 They give you a record of the number of grafts and where there were put at the end of the surgery, but I can't seem to find. if I remember correctly, I believe it was just under 2000 grafts for the hairline.
