FUT Scar - Stretched??

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Recently had an FUT procedure (Tricho closure) in India and am currently 9 days post-op

Recipient area looks good however the donor area is a little too red above and below the suture line.

There is also a slight discomfort along the suture line when I rest on it, and a few pin prick like feeling here and there throughout the day.

Is this normal at this stage? Is it possible that the scar has stretched?

I'm really worried and looking for some answers.

Please let me know if this looks okay or not.

Thanks all

Hi Vito,

The post-operative appearance looks pretty normal. It's probably a little too early to say the scar "stretched." Wounds heal in a series of overlapping phases. Right now, your body is still mounting an inflammatory response to the trauma and starting to send cells to begin the true healing process. The best thing you can, for now, is follow your clinic's post-operative instructions closely. This is the best way to prevent unnecessary stretching.

Simple answer: normal at this stage.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reassurance Blake,

there is another complication cropped up today; the absorbable running sutures have started coming out of the surface. I'm not sure if this is okay or not. Hoping you could let me know.

Thanks

At this juncture you are good to go with your sutures.
