Graft count?

I have been getting online consults from surgeons/clinics, 5 so far, the one i was hoping to perform the surgery is quoting a much higher graft number than the rest. Im still waiting on an explanation from him but it brought up a question.

 

If you have a 3000 graft procedure done how do you know that that number were extract and/or implanted?

Hi Nikko

 

You don't know as such and the extraction amount could be a little more than transplanted assuming a small percentage of transected grafts but most clinics will give a comprehensive breakdown post surgery of graft numbers and breakdown of hairs per graft also.

 

Essentially it is trust with the clinic you choose that the readings are accurate and this is a very important ingredient in the choosing. You are trusting them with your head so you need to trust them in their counting of grafts also and being ethical and honest.

 

The surface area treated or the scar length and width taken or the FUE extractions should also give a good indication of things although at times the FU may be further split or even grouped together depending on the surgery being done and numbers needed of certain groups so there could also be variations in this on repair work or hair line work etc.

I really wanted to go with a particular specialist but now i feel he is trying to gouge me, doesn't help that i have been waiting for his reply for a few days but it was the weekend. I guess you guys know how impatient you can get when you finally decide to take the leap.

 

Im not really price shopping but it is a difference of 6000 euros to the next highest.

The weekend does play a part and also be sure to check the spam folder as I find a lot of my replies go there so the patient doesn't see it so hang in there and if no reply in a few days then give another email or a call but am sure you will get a reply. Often Monday morning there are a backlog of emails to address so be patient and sure a reply will come.

Well 11 day from my query to Koray Erdogan to why so many grafts comparatively and all i received was the exact same message with the graft count changed to 4000.

 

With no explanation of the thought process 5000 vs other surgeons it just confirms it was just an inflated count in my mind.

 

I any case i choose not to use Dr.Koray Erdogan on his communication alone.

Interesting, I was quoted the same numbers (total) by all the surgeons I saw or communicated with; the only difference was that most of the others said they couldn't do such a large graft count on the same period, thus their proposal was to to half in the near future and the other half around 8 months later.

Total graft estimates correspond with the estimate provided by Dr Erdogan; these included Dr Basinga, Dr Doganay, Dr Shamalak, Dr Feriundi, Dr Zeiring, Dr Lorenzo, Da Vinci clinic and the Private Clinic.

I was quoted ranges, the ranges were + or - 5% of a certain number of grafts i.e between 4500 and 5000. One Dr quoted 5500, but not Dr Erdogan
