Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted September 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted September 27, 2013 Dude, Shedding occurs for a variety of reasons. Shedding normally occurs because hair follicles enter the telogen phase of normal follicle cycling. During the telogen phase, the hair follicle enters a stage of "rest" and essentially stops producing terminal hairs. This phase usually lasts 3-4 months. This is fairly short compared to the 2-7 year anagen or "growth" phase of the hair follicle cycle.
