Regular Member Birdness Posted July 17, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 I am curious whether all surgeons recommend starting Rogaine-minoxidil post op?Input from patients of different doctors would be appreciated. Also, when is it started Post op ( days, weeks, months???)
Senior Member gillenator Posted July 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 This is somewhat a grey area. Some doctors recommend the use of minoxidil post-op for the purpose of "jump starting" the regrowth. Most will advise to allow the recipient area to completely heal before applying it. But there are variances between doctors as to when to start applying it post-op. Generally speaking, after roughly 7-10 days the scabbing/crusting should be gone if you are a good healer. Some take a tad bit longer. The average wait that is recommended is approximately three weeks however. Not all docs advocate the use of minoxidil post-op within the recipient area but rather to just allow the healing process and time to manifest the regrowth. Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. My opinions are not medical advice, but are my own views which you read at your own risk.
