Senior Member Calgacus Posted July 15, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2013 I have recently developed cold-like symptoms (nasal congestion, sneezing, itchy/puffed eyes, dry cough). I get these symptoms in the morning and evening only, which is coincidently when I also apply minoxidil. Is it possible to have this type of allergic reaction to minoxidil? I dont really have any dermatological side effects except the occassional itchy scalp. Thanks, Cal Regimen: Finasteride (1.25mg): Daily. Minoxidil (5%): Twice Daily. Senior Member StaggerLee123 Posted July 16, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 16, 2013 Could very well be you're having a reaction. We all react differently to different meds. I stopped using Minoxidil because I was getting slight, but regular heart palpitations from it. After I stopped the palpitations stopped also. Senior Member Calgacus Posted July 16, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 16, 2013 Yeah, I am aware of palpitations along with skin irritation as possible side effects because they are well documented. It's just that I've never heard of allergic rhinitis stemming from minoxidil use. I hope the two are not related as I'd hate to give up the minoxidil. ......I really feel like it has helped me to retain my barnet, and may even be responsible for hair regrowth.
