Swapping back to Propecia from Finpecia

My hair has got worse in the last 5 months since I swapped my regime. I've read Jotronic's post about the generic not being effective like the brand Propecia, and there's also another recent post where someone's hair got worse after they swapped.

It was worth experimenting with cheaper alternatives but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay extra for stuff that seems to actually work better. I doubt my hair loss could have naturally accelerated THAT much in 5 months. It must be the change in meds.

Not sure whether to go back to the old 12.5% cream with the azelaic acid or keep with the Kirkland 5% foam I have been using the last 5 months.

Probably going to just pay those ridiculous prices for 3 - 6 months and see if everything improves. Quite disappointed how it turned out - it was worth a go, but was actually hoping for slight improvement not for it to have got worse! :(

Has anyone else found the generic finasteride to be less effective?

[P.s yes Spex if you read this, you were right in saying I shouldn't have tried to fix what wasn't broken!]

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Wrote a book for newbies called Beating Hair Loss, available on Amazon
