Regular Member oxyrose Posted May 9, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Hey, I was wondering, if I use a saline spray, could I just make my own using boiled tap water and sea salt in a spray bottle (I think 1 teaspoon per cup of water)? Senior Member gillenator Posted May 9, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 9, 2013 Probably a better less hassle choice would be to purchase a bottle of saline solution in just about any pharmacy or discount store at a very cheap price. It really is contact rinsing/storage solution but in fact is pure saline solution and thoroughly mixed. So it won't clog your spray bottle like sea salt. I suspect enough to create a fine layer across the entire scalp every hour or 2 (maybe 10-15 sprays each time)... would it hurt to use too much or too often? Senior Member gillenator Posted May 13, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted May 13, 2013 You cannot over apply the sterile saline solution. And yes you can apply it over the entire recipient area every several hours by using a spray bottle. Dr. Glenn Charles
I instruct my patients to spray a light mist over the entire recipient area 2-3 per hour until they go to bed for the first few days post-op.
