Senior Member PupDaddy Posted October 29, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted October 29, 2012 Let's say you get a hair transplant that completely recreates your hairline and frontal third. Prior to the transplant, the recipient area was devoid of hair. The transplant is successful but a year and a half later you decide to have a second transplant to enhance the density of the earlier transplant. Will the previously transplanted hair be any more or less susceptible to shock loss (temporary or permanent) from having grafts implanted amongst it than if it was pre-existing, native hair? Dr. Glenn Charles
In my experience previously transplanted hairs do not fall out from shock as easity as a weak original hair. If they do fall out in the first 1-3 weeks post-op they generally are only lost temporarily.
