Senior Member Shyguy Posted July 22, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 22, 2012 Over the past 4 years my blood workup has shown that my serum testosterone levels have dropped significantly from 463 to 230. Over this same period my blood sugar skyrocketed for which I am not taking meds for to control as of this year. I have lost a considerable amount of hair over the past 4 years. I am considering taking a topical solution testosterone supplement and was wondering how this may affect my hair. Does anyone have any similar experiences with testosterone supplements and its affect on hair loss/gain? I have been contemplating going in for a consult for more surgery (last surgery in 1994) but don't want to jump the gun if testosterone supplements can help regrow some of my hair if my T levels normalize. Thoughts? Using Propecia since 1997 Using Rogaine Foam once a day since 2012 Using Niazoral 2% once a week since 2012
Dr. Glenn Charles
I am unaware of patients who have had hair growth after taking testosterone supplement therapy. I have heard of patients who have had an increase in hair loss after using testosterone supplement therapy. However, proper testosterone levels is very important and needed for good general health and longevity. Thoughts? Maybe if you cut the sugars in your diet, processed foods, dairy, wheat and meat then you can elimate the blood sugar levels.
