Regular Member Travis1 Posted February 17, 2012 Regular Member Posted February 17, 2012 Dear all, What happens when shedding of transplanted hairs happen? Are we back to square one? I noticed that a member has encountered shedding (Hair Restoration Journal -Day 31), however he has encountered positive results at the end of the year. Can I safely say that HT is 100% successful eventhough there is a visual appearance of shedding? Or is this the inherent risk involved?
Senior Member Dutch Posted February 17, 2012 Senior Member Posted February 17, 2012 Hello, shedding is a normal part of the whole process- nothing to be worried about. It usually occurs between weeks 2-6 or at least that's when I had most of the shedding. It's called 'the ugly duckling phase' for a reason! Every surgery has risks of course, a HT is a fairly simple operation in the hands of an experienced surgeon anyway. It would be successful and the shedding is not an indication of what it will look like a year later. http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2329
