Regular Member PreVet Posted January 24, 2012 Regular Member Posted January 24, 2012 Hi guys, I saw a hair transplant surgeon last week and he told me i have "good donor hair",as is curly he thinks i could get more coverage if i went totally bald. May i ask,if my loss progresses can this hair get less and less verr time seeing as how some people have great donor hair and others have very poor donor hair? Im considdering letting myself be a nw6 at 25 and only then proceeding with a transplant as running out of donor seems like a big risk to take and im not a fan of oral meds. Id probably use a hair piece to get through m early twenties. Any thoughts? Thanks
Senior Member Blake Bloxham Posted January 25, 2012 Senior Member Posted January 25, 2012 Prevet, While donor hair can techinically miniaturize (some surgeons state that up to 10% miniaturization is normal and can lead to a normal restoration procedure), it's more likely that hair around your universal donor region is thinning and miniaturizing. Additionally, I would consider preventive, oral medications (especially because of your age and current level of loss). Let me know if you'd like any additional information. Good luck.
