risingsun
Is itching a normal thing while using minoxidil? It's not really that bad, but, nevertheless, it's there. It's been about 10 days since I started applying it. Should I simply ignore it or try changing brands?
Senior Member cardel25 Posted August 21, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 21, 2011 Hi its normal. Add Nizoral shampoo to your regimen. If the itching is too bad you can switch to Rogaine foam instead of whatever you are using. The foam doesnt have propylene glycon in it. Thats the biggest contributor to the ichy feeling. 1 mg Finasterid M-W-F. 2,500 mcg Biotin. 1 mg 5 % Minoxidil once a day. Multi-vitamin. Fish oil. Head and Shoulders every day. Nizoral 2 % one time a week. Emu oil. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/cardel25/blog/403/
risingsun
The itching has gotten really bad now. I've been sitting and scratching my head the entire night. I think I'll try the gel. Is it less effective than the solution ?
Senior Member cardel25 Posted August 31, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 31, 2011 No its not. Actually many claim that the foam is more effective. 1 mg Finasterid M-W-F. 2,500 mcg Biotin. 1 mg 5 % Minoxidil once a day. Multi-vitamin. Fish oil. Head and Shoulders every day. Nizoral 2 % one time a week. Emu oil. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/cardel25/blog/403/
Bill - Seemiller
risingsun, The topical minoxidil liquid solution contains an ingredient called propylene glycol which has been known to cause an itchy scalp in some consumers. Rogaine foam does not contain this ingredient and is considered even more effective than its liquid counterpart due to its unique delivery system to the scalp. You can read more about and purchase Rogaine foam by visiting our online hair loss treatment shop. Best wishes in restoring your hair, Bill
