Senior Member Thehairupthere Posted August 18, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted August 18, 2011 You don't have to be on the medication to have the procedure, but sometimes the doctor will recommend using the medication for half a year to a year to see your results before having a transplant. This depends on your hair loss situation, so speak to a recommended surgeon from this forum and get their opinion. In the long run those medications will reduce the likelihood of you losing more hair in the future and lessen the need for more transplants. I am a consultant for Dr. True and Dr. Dorin.
