BadServiceBuster
I use Just for Men - permanent hair color. If I have a hair transplant, the skin is going to be already damaged. Even now, when I apply hair color, there is a lot of irritation and itching. Should be even more after the hair transplant - esp at donor region. Anyone use hair color and share your experience with using hair color after the hair transplant? My hair is totally white and going to work without hair color will be major change. Thanks. Dr. Glenn Charles
How often do you normally color your hair? I tell most of my patients that color their hair to do so 1-2 weeks prior to the procedure and to wait for 4 weeks after before coloring again. BadServiceBuster
i color my hair every 3 to 4 weeks now. Will peroxide, ammonia etc. irritate the areas more until the donor area is fully healed? and that would take more than 4 weeks, no?
Senior Member Louise Posted March 8, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted March 8, 2011 Hi BadServiceBuster, Just as Dr. Charles suggested, Dr Simmons also recommends waiting 4 weeks after a hair transplant before coloring. If you are going to have your hair stylist color and cut your hair, it would be advisable to have him/her look at the donor area before cutting so that your hair will be left long enough to cover the donor scar and any hair that was trimmed slightly above or below.
