runfromthelight
A full blown NW6, I'm at the 5-month mark after receiving ~2,750 grafts front and sides (everywhere but crown). Like most 1st timers at this stage, I'm feeling that I've likely seen all the growth I'm going to from this first HT.But will wait a full year before next move. But to my question. In 1st round, I decided to deal w/ the front and sides and to leave the crown to another time. My initial feeling was that I could forget the crown ultimately if I wanted to double down with my next HT on the sides and front (I have another 3k grafts available). I have since come to appreciate the importance of addressing the crown, even in creating the appearance of density in the sides/front. This creates a problem, since I'd like to use as much as possible to improve the density of the front/sides. I'm heading in next month to talk to my HT doc to talk about future strategy, and will certainly listen to him. I realize this is difficult to do w/o pix, but would appreciate your general thoughts about the pros/cons of going for full (if less dense) coverage vs. partial but denser coverage. thanks, runfromthelight
Senior Member Megatron Posted February 5, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted February 5, 2010 I don't see how you could possibly be at full growth after only 5 months. it seems to me like full growth is usually around 1.5 years and 80% around 1 year. I say wait to see what it looks like before doing anything. personally, I think I'd choose the crown because having a dense front and middle with nothing on the crown looks weird. either way, good luck man. Senior Member hairthere Posted February 5, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted February 5, 2010 Yeah, five months is just the start of your growth. Regular Member markymark Posted February 6, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted February 6, 2010 5 months full growth? I had almost zero growth at 5 months. You must wait things out. Density improves and more hairs do grow! I'm the opposite of you. I did my crown first and hopefully I will have enough donor to address the front one day. Senior Member Time to do something Posted February 10, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted February 10, 2010 In my opinion I'd address the front and sides for the next one. You probably aren't going to be satisfied with the density if you are a NW6 with one pass on the front and sides. I'd do the same area with a second procedure to achieve a thicker appearance. The crown is a hair pit and takes a lot of grafts even for a light covering. You could also consider what I plan to do when my procedure matures and that is wear a lace hair piece on your crown. I'm told they blend very well and are undetectable by guys who have done it and my stylist who does it.
