Red888
Is there a tool or technique that can determine if we are exhibiting an increase in male pattern baldness? Can some kind of doctor figure out by examining?
Bill - Seemiller
Red888, It depends on what you mean by an "increase". Male pattern baldness can be spotted by a dermatologist or hair restoration specialist under magifnication even before we see visual signs. But as far as I know, whether or not it's beginning to accelerate isn't scientifically discernable, other than visually noticing an increase in hair shedding or comparing pictures afterwards. If there are new breakthroughs on this, I'm not aware of them. Perhaps a physician can chime in. Best wishes, Bill Seemiller
Regular Member Goldilocks Posted May 18, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted May 18, 2010 Wouldn't a hair restoration physician be able to measure the degree of miniaturization and compare the findings from time A to time B? I wouldn't think however that you could reasonably predict the expected rate of balding since it probably isn't linear.
Bill - Seemiller
Goldilocks, That's exactly right. If you perform tests and look backwards, you can acquire an understanding of how much you've lost. But there is no way to predict future loss, how much, its speed, etc. As you said, hair loss isn't necessarily linear.
