Regular Member Marie32 Posted February 2, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted February 2, 2009 I have read that an excess of Vitamin A can cause hair loss but in many of the hair loss supplements that claim to promote healthy hair such as NUHAIR have a huge amount of vitamin A in them.It is usually the first ingredient in the product. What is excess and why would the supplemets use a large amount of vitamin A if it contributes to hair loss?

Bill - Seemiller
Marie32, Excessive amounts of anything can be problematic which is why the phrase "anything in moderation" is often so accurate. I haven't seen any studies that proves Vitamin A either causes or prevents hair loss. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member mmhce Posted February 3, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted February 3, 2009 You have to ingest a lot of vitamin A to have significant problems. You urinate out all vitamins except A, K, E and D. These are the ones that can do damage but a normal diet can supply you with enough vitamin A. NUHAIR = Snake oil take care... Look up Accutane, retin A, tretoin, etc. on this forum, to get a better idea about the interaction of vitamin A with the body/scalp hair growth take care...
