hey guys

i am a 20 year old with a sever hair problem. i have lost my hair in akward places and now it looks like the hair line is receding.the overall density of my hair is poor at the side and the back.i was researching dr seagers clinic as i study closer to toronto. i was hoping for some advice. i do have a hair loss problem in the family mostly on my fathers side. to be precise every boy has lost a great deal of hair. i wont to catch and put an end to this issue before it gets too late. i was also wondering can a family relative give you the donor hair you would require for your surgery. ill be returning from my holiday soon and would greatfully apreciate some advice. to add to my plight being a full time student doesnt make it easier to pay for costs i would imagine for the surgery.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

When you say awkward places, what do you mean? At your age, I'd try other solutions before a HT in order to avoid any unnecessary departure of your native hair too soon, due to shock loss, and, to allow time for your hair loss pattern to develop. If you start too soon and too aggressive, you run the risk of running out of donor hair.

Search the site for information on Propecia whose active ingredient is Finasteride, and, Avodart whose active ingredient is Duasteride. They block DHT which is what is attacking your hair and causing Male Pattern Baldness. Also, look into other areas on this site to assist in starting a good scalp and hair care regimen. With a combination of things, you could halt any further loss and experience some mild regrowth.

Lastly, no, you can't get donor hair from a relative........unless maybe it's an identical twin who's a match genetically. Even from a relative, your body would likely reject the hair.

Hope this helps.

i wont to catch and put an end to this issue before it gets too late.

hey, just wanted to point out that that will not stop the hairloss. You've got to address/prevent further loss before you consider anything as risky as a HT.

Also, how severe is the hairloss of the men in your family? (what NW? - if they're a 7 I would be *very* very careful with HT's).

Good luck

I am a strong believer in vitamins and nutritionally rich foods. Don't put garbage into your body. Live a healthy lifestyle, almost to the point of fanatacism.that means good, regular cardiovascular exercise as well.

That is just my opinion.

Also check out propecia.

The good news for someone your age, you can expect great progress in the treatment of the follicular-challenged over the next 10 years.

Think of the progress in the field just over the past 5 years.

I truly believe great breakthroughs will happen over the course of the next 2 decades.

Do yourself a favor by beginning a very healthy lifestyle now.

If you have MPB hairloss (male pattern baldness) - the regular kind where you lose the hair up top and the hair on the sides remains intact, then vitamins and oils will not stop you from losing more hair.

It doesn't sound like you have regular MPB - it'd help if you could post some pictures so that we could see what you're talking about, but in any event you should go see a doctor to get your blood work done. Check thyroid and a bunch of other things like that, if it turns out to be MPB you will have to get on finasteride.

Eating healthy, not smoking, not drinking and all that do help but only in slowing things down or, as I prefer to state it, not speeding things up. People without MPB can smoke, drink and do drugs and still have normal thick hair, MPB people can't.

In any event, go see a dermotologist to get what ever it is diagnosed.

Good luck.

Hello 20, with regards to Dr. Seager in Toronto he does excellent work and I would recommend him anytime. I had 2900 grafts two years ago with great results. He's a very honest doc who will give you realistic options...good luck!
