Runner2215
Hi, I recently had a frontal hair transplant procedure and nicked the front of my head on a pillow of all things 4 days after surgery. There was a small amount of blood on my finger but not dripping from my head. How do I know if I have lost any hair grafts? Can you bleed from the recipient area and still retain the graft? I was told you can tell you've lost a graft only if you bleed significantly.
Senior Member Maxxy Posted April 13, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted April 13, 2010 Welcome Runner2215! 4 days post-op it is possible to lose grafts if they are pulled... given the fact you nicked your receipt and you noticed some bleeding - this may be what happened. One graft is going make no difference to your final outcome so even if this is what happened don't worry too much about it just be a little more careful. Runner2215
Thanks! That happened on a Saturday and the following Wednesday I went for a check-up and the doc said nothing was out of place. Would they be able to tell if the graft was missing?

Senior Member Sparky Posted April 17, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted April 17, 2010 sounds like you dislodged a scab, that would make it bleed the same way as picking a normal scab on your hand or something. I dont think you lost a graft. My Hairloss Website http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2198
Runner2215
That's a relief...they said after ten days all the grafts are anchored and there is practically nothing you can do to dislodge them...but how much longer do you have to wait if you doing something like boxing where you have a lot of head contact? Months?
